On July 28, 2021, Dusty Hill passed away suddenly. The news is spreading all over the world at this very moment. Billy Gibbons and Frank Baird, who were left behind, are continuing the tour with Elwood Francis appointed as their replacement. Apparently, this was Dusty's strong desire. This was a huge shock since ZZ TOP was an unchanging trio with no member changes since their debut, but this was not the first time they had used a substitute. Once, while on tour, Frank fell ill due to a sudden illness, and they only played a few shows with a substitute drummer. An ultra-excellent soundboard album that allows you to experience the full show of such a super rare "ZZ TOP without Frank" will be released. This work was recorded at “Saarbrücken performance on October 15, 2002”. It is the super best stereo sound board recording. At the time, it was part of the “XXX Tour,” but we haven’t been touring since the album was released in 1999. The main tour ended in 1999/2000. There was no activity in 2001, and in 2002 a mini tour of less than 30 performances was held. First, let's understand the situation at the time based on the schedule. ・May 4th to 12th: North America (5 performances) ・October 1st to 12th: Europe #1 (8 performances) 《Frank had acute appendicitis Emergency surgery》・October 14th: Paris performance ・October 15th: Saarbrücken performance ←★This work★ ・October 16th: Brussels performance《Return to Frank》・October 18th-November 1st: Europe # 2 (11 performances) This is ZZ TOP in 2002. Just as Frank entered Paris for the 9th show of his European tour, he suffered from acute appendicitis and had to undergo emergency surgery. Drum tech John Douglas sat on a stool for about three performances from that day. Frank, who returned in less than a week after surgery, is no ordinary man, but Douglas, who performed a full show every day as an emergency substitute, is also superhuman. It was a feat that could only be achieved by the crew who accompanied the tour and were familiar with all the songs. In any case, this work recorded at such an ultra-rare show is a superb stereo sound board that makes you want to line up the quality as "super...". In fact, it is a leaked master of the people involved that was discovered through our unique route and was recorded directly from the mix table. That sound is a glaring bang. There is no polishing like FM broadcasts or official records, and the bare live performance sent to the on-site PA is screwed into your brain. Now, try to recall the most intense desk-connected soundboard you've ever experienced in your life. Please think that the sound of this work is the same as the sound you remembered, or a few steps better. What is depicted in such a different dimension direct sound is a full show filled with extremely rare versions by John Douglas. It's fun to listen to the performance, so let's just organize the set here. 70's/80's (16 songs) - Rio Grande Mad: Just Got Paid - Tres Hombres: Waitin' for the Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago / Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers / La Grange - Fandango!: Mexican Blackbird /Tush ・Elegy for Massacre: I Thank You/I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide/Cheap Sunglasses・El Loco: Tube Snake Boogie・Illiminator: Got Me Under Pressure/Gimme All Your Lovin'/Sharp Dressed Man/Legs・Afterburner: Rough Boy Others (4 songs) ・Antenna: Pincushion ・Rhythmian: Bang Bang ・Others: Future Blues (Willie Brown) / I Loved the Woman (Freddie King) Elwood Francis, who is currently replacing Dusty is a guitar tech who has traveled the world with ZZ TOP for many years. In the rock world, there are many joints with celebrities, but this is not the case with them. There is no way a stranger who suddenly joined the team could take his place. In addition to that fact, this work is a transcendent soundboard album that will directly connect your brain with each note and voice of Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill. A superb soundboard album of the show with Frank Baird on sick leave has been released. The leaked master recorded directly at the mix table is more than official, and the drumming of substitute John Douglas is also poured directly into the brain.
