"Big in Japan" is also amazing if you come this far... Here is the best video that records such an unprecedented heyday. This work was filmed at the Osaka Festival Hall performance on September 15, 1995. It is a part of the "MAGNUM OPUS JAPAN TOUR". This tour was really amazing. Yngwie's popularity has been exploding in Japan since early on, but 1995 was the peak. The number of live shows and the number of attendees were the highest in Yngwie's history, and he traveled across the archipelago from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south. There is no point in listing the dates in a row, but it's so amazing (laughs) so let's list them.・September 8th: Kagoshima Civic Cultural Hall ・September 9th: Kyushu Welfare Pension Hall ・September 11th: Hiroshima Postal Savings Hall ・September 12th: Matsuyama Civic Hall ・September 14th: Kurashiki Civic Hall ・September 15th: Osaka Festival Hall [This film] ・September 16th: Kyoto Kaikan ・September 18th: Amagasaki City General Cultural Center ・September 19th: Nagoya City Public Hall ・September 20th: Tochigi Prefectural General Cultural Center ・September 22nd: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall ・September 24th: Iwate Education Hall ・September 25th: Akita City Cultural Hall ・September 27th: Niigata Terrsa ・September 28th: Izumity 21 ・September 29th: Kanagawa Prefectural Hall ・September 30th: Nippon Budokan So what do you think, just the dates are impressive! The 17 shows in total exceeded the heyday of RAINBOW in 1978, and the scale was such that even DREAM THEATER and MEGADETH, who were equally popular in the 1990s, could not compete. Moreover, unlike bands who earn a lot of numbers by repeating in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, they toured the whole country in just three weeks, sweeping all the famous venues representing each region. Only he or MR. BIG could have done such a big, dense, and fierce tour. Yngwie was at the peak of his popularity, and the quality of this work is a superb product that is worthy of it. The shooting position is... I don't know! From the angle, I can see that it is the second floor, and slightly to the left of the front of the stage, but beyond that, it is a complete mess. The reason for this is the extreme zoom. Yngwie and Mike Vesela are constantly captured in close-up, and almost nothing else is visible... no, nothing at all. Not to mention the shadows of the front row, even when Yngwie comes out to the front of the stage, you can't see even the front row on the first floor. The close-ups are so intense that it's hard to tell where the shots are taken. It's amazing that even with that much zoom, it's not hard to see. The vivid image quality and master freshness are amazing even with the intense close-ups, but what's even more amazing is the camera work. I wouldn't say there is no camera shake, but it's not completely absent. Yngwie, who is raging on the stage, is kept in the center, and sometimes his whole body, sometimes his bust, and sometimes his beard (unique to those days) fills the screen. It's also strangely cool. At the time, he was in the heyday of fat, but unlike in photo sessions, he doesn't make a stupid face with his mouth pursed (he should definitely stop), and he goes wild to the point that you'd want to ask, "Why don't you lose weight by moving so much?" Of course, even if he moves that much, his fingertips are even faster and there is no shadow on the intense rapid-fire. He is constantly showered with sharp phrases that are as sharp as his brisk action. In contrast to Yngwie, Vesela. In the previous year's "LIVE AT BUDOKAN" of the "SEVENTH SIGN TOUR", he had a beard and short pants, but in this work, he has shaved his beard and his simple all-black appearance is sharp. He hits the high notes of Vesela's unique friendly voice quality. Of course, the other members also give us a wonderful ensemble, but they hardly appear on the screen, and even when they do, it's dark (bitter smile). These two are the main characters of this video work. The show that these two portray is also amazing, unique to their heyday. They performed all the songs from their new album "MAGNUM OPUS" except for "Tomorrow's Gone". Yngwie is always full of confidence, but when he is so thorough, he is speechless. Of course, since the set is full of his own songs, Vesela is in top form with plenty of room to spare, and while he played 22 songs, only five of them overlap with the official video "LIVE AT BUDOKAN": "Never Die", "Crash and Burn", "Seventh Sign", "Forever One" and "Black Star". The past repertoire sandwiched between them is also delicious, such as ALCATRAZZ's "To Young To Die, Too Drunk To Live" and DEEP PURPLE's "Burn" (I wish they had done a perfect copy of "Highway Star" since it was the Osaka Festival Hall of "MADE IN JAPAN"). Anyway, this is Yngwie's heyday. It's a powerful rock video, but it's also a masterpiece shot that can be enjoyed as a sequel to "LIVE AT BUDOKAN" and as a 100% real version of "MAGNUM OPUS".
