The latest YES Japan tour has become a rare "sound source abnormality" in recent years. The top recordings of all the dates have been released this week, but the best ear-in-monitor (IEM) album is here to make it even more impressive. IEMs have already become common knowledge, but let's start with a quick review. If you think "it's too late now...", please skip this section. Musicians on stage listen to their own sounds to understand the progress of the songs and shows. They mainly listen to the sound sent over the radio with earphones, and IEMs are recorded by intercepting it on-site. The sound is not passed through a PA, so it is super vivid and direct, like a line recording. The vividness and details of the performance far surpass even the official live recordings, let alone the audience recordings, and it is very popular. However, it's not all good. Since the purpose is not to let the audience hear it, the mix is strange in most cases. Only the rhythm is emphasized to grasp the entrance, or only the vocals are loud to grasp the pitch of the chorus. Depending on the part, there may be a click sound that the audience cannot hear. It is a "practical" sound that provides the necessary sound for the necessary parts, and in terms of sound quality, the ringing and beauty tend to be secondary. In the first place, depending on the interception environment, it is not uncommon for it to be intermittent. Due to such characteristics, it is usually matrixed with the audience recording and becomes a "material" that adds an edge to the customer recording. Although such IEMs are such, there are very rare ones that can be enjoyed as musical works. Such a rarity is this work. This work contains a full recording of the first, second and last days of the latest YES Japan tour. It is usually rare to be able to listen to one full IEM, but this time three performances appeared. Let's check the schedule here.・November 21: Orchard Hall [Discs 1 and 2] ・November 22: Orchard Hall [Discs 3 and 4] ・November 24: Osaka Orix Theater ・November 25: Zepp Nagoya ・November 28: Orchard Hall ・November 29: Orchard Hall [Discs 5 and 6] In this way, our shop has obtained the original IEM masters of all four "Orchard Hall performances". Only the third day in Tokyo, "November 28", has some difficulties, so we have named it "TOKYO 2016 3RD NIGHT: ORIGINAL IEM RECORDING", but the other three performances are of the highest quality. The sound is a dazzlingly clear world. Only at the end of the final day, there is a little noise specific to IEMs, but other than that, the beauty is far from the common sense of IEMs. The taste of the intense vivid sound, comparable to a sound board directly connected to the desk, hits the brain directly. The audience recordings for this performance in Japan were also a parade of the finest items, but the vivid colors of the IEM are completely different. The reverberation, echoes, and audience noise are all physically eliminated, and the feeling of immersion is amazing. The sound of the guitar strings rubbing, the breathing picked up by the vocal microphone, and even the switching of the effectors are clear. YES's complex symphonic ensemble is factorized and flows into the brain, and you can immerse yourself in a musical experience as if you were a mixer. That said, this work is not an "official substitute", but it is different again. The IEMs are mixed significantly differently by each member, and depending on which member's IEM you intercept, they change their expression. All three performances in this work are incredibly well balanced for IEMs, but they are also full of fun. Let's summarize who each disc is intercepting... ・Day 1: Left = Whole Monitor / Right = Geoffrey Downs ・Day 2: Left = Whole Monitor / Right = Whole Monitor ・Final Day: Left = John Davison / Right = Geoffrey Downs ... and so on. On the second day (discs 3 and 4), both channels are "whole monitors", but on the first and last days, one show flows into different sound worlds from the left and right ears, and they mix together in the brain. Moreover, the master of that sound world is YES's complex suite. Depending on the part, the keyboard is very far away, or conversely, very close. The kaleidoscope sound that occurs in real time with each instrument is exactly a different dimension and a sense of space. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a drug album that makes you trip with pure music. Moreover, this work is amazing because it is not only that. With a normal IEM, it would just collapse musically, but this work is not like that. Even though it changes so rapidly, it does not collapse and keeps the "beauty of YES" as a whole. It is a musical world born by chance, different from the sound board and the audience. It is a miraculous masterpiece that does not lose its "beauty" with a highly colorful IEM sound with a full sense of tripping. In terms of "musical expression" and "artwork", the peak audience recording of each performance is recommended, but it is a 6-disc set full of a different dimension that was created by chance in a different dimension from such expressive art. Even in the latest tour, which became a "sound source abnormality", it is a 6-disc set that shines with a different color.
