YES returned to Japan in 2016. Following on from last week, here is a superb live album that completes the collection of Japanese performances. Last week, we delivered the first day of the tour in Tokyo, "TOKYO 2016 1ST NIGHT", to the fourth day, "NAGOYA 2016", but this week we will deliver the latter two days. This work is an audience album that contains the fifth day, "Orchard Hall performance on November 28, 2016". As usual, let's check the schedule.・November 21: Orchard Hall "TOKYO 2016 1ST NIGHT" ・November 22: Orchard Hall "TOKYO 2016 2ND NIGHT" ・November 24: Osaka Orix Theater "OSAKA 2016" ・November 25: Zepp Nagoya "NAGOYA 2016" ・November 28: Orchard Hall [This work] ・November 29: Orchard Hall "TOKYO 2016 FINAL NIGHT" In this way, the tour went like this: 2 shows in Tokyo → Osaka → Nagoya → 2 shows in Tokyo. There were 4 shows at "Orchard Hall" alone, but this work includes the Monday concert when they returned to Tokyo. This completes the apex recordings of all the shows. Last week, the first half of the show was well-received with great recordings, but this work in the second half is no less impressive. That's because the person who recorded this work was a master who recorded discs 3 and 4 of "TOKYO 2016 1ST NIGHT" and "TOKYO 2016 1ST & 2ND NIGHT", which were considered to be "Tokyo Best". Unfortunately, the throne of "Tokyo Best" has been updated to the miracle work "TOKYO 2016 FINAL NIGHT", but if you have listened to both of the above-mentioned works, you will already be convinced of their high quality. This work is a wonderful audience sound that meets the expectations perfectly. Although it is not a type that is "like a sound board", the musical sound is extremely thick and detailed to the details, comparable to line recording. On top of that, while it is filled with the elegant acoustics of "Orchard Hall", the sound is transparent and sparkling. Symphonic rock with its "feeling of pouring" doubled. It is exactly the true essence of YES. The show depicted with such a sound is truly wonderful. This tour is divided into two parts, but each of the first and second halves can be further divided into two parts. Here is a summary of the show's structure: ・Part 1a: 3 songs from "Drama" ・Part 1b: 4 songs from "Yes Songs" ・Part 2a: 2 songs from "Tales of Topographic Oceans" + α ・Part 2b: 2 standard encore songs ... and so on. The previous North American tour had the theme of "Complete reproduction of "Drama"" and "2 major songs from Topographic Oceans", but in Japan, "Drama" was limited to three songs and the "Yes Songs" part was arranged. It is rumored that this was a request from the inviting company to capitalize on the popularity of "Yes Songs", but to be honest, it is undeniable that it feels like the "usual songs". In any case, a complete reproduction of "Drama" like the overseas performances might have been more special. On the other hand, the "Topographic Oceans" part of "Part 2a" is truly special! After all, this is the first time that "Divine Revelation" and "Ritual" have been performed in full in their 10th visit to Japan. Moreover, between the two major songs, the delicious part of "Ancient Civilizations", "Leaves Of Green", is sandwiched, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the music for about an hour. And the sound of this work also suits the world of "Topography of the Oceans". The clarity, which is different from ordinary audience recordings, conveys the complex ensemble in detail, and the transparent sound that cannot be experienced with line recordings enhances the magnificent emotion even more. Not only is it a wonderful recording, but it is also a live album like a dedicated sound that colorfully colors YES music. It is the best one for enjoying the memories of "Tokyo Day 3" with the apex sound, and for completing the best collection of the Japan tour.
