YES' latest live album will be released with just 3 months left until they come to Japan. This week, “WALLINGFORD 2016” will also be released normally from the North American leg of “ALBUMS TOUR 2016”, but this work is the audience album of “August 14, 2016 Albany performance”, which is after the 6th performance. In fact, this work is also a sibling work to "WALLINGFORD 2016". The dates may be close, but most importantly, the recording artist is the same. "WALLINGFORD 2016" is a 4-disc set in which two recorders recorded one live performance, but this work is a recording of a separate performance by the taper "Relayer35" who made discs 1 and 2 mono. is. I think those who are reading this nonsense have not listened to “WALLINGFORD 2016” yet, but this is another wonderful recording. And, this work is also the same superb sound. In fact, we had planned to make a 4-disc set with discs 1 and 2 of "WALLINGFORD 2016" and "a set of two performances of the same taper," but rather than delivering two performances with similar individual sounds, we decided to make them "the same show." This recording has been removed from the regular release because we want you to experience the fun of ``what would happen if another taper recorded it.'' That said, this work is still a masterpiece that you can't pretend you haven't listened to. So, this is how it was released. I'm sorry for writing such a vague information. In other words, I was so worried that I couldn't help but write about it, but rather than that, let's focus on the main point of this work. In fact, the sound of this work is truly ironclad. The core of the musical tone is thick and the edges are vivid. And yet, the “ringing” created by the subtle venue acoustics is so beautiful. I would like to write "It's like a soundboard," but even that is hardly a compliment. I've written many times before, but YES Music's true value is only revealed when it has a chorus that sounds like it's falling from the heavens or a sound that sounds like a church pipe organ. It is not a boring sound board, but a band that suits the on-site audience recording. And, this work is one where you can fully immerse yourself in the beautiful sound that can be said to be the highest peak. The latest “ALBUMS TOUR 2016” drawn with that sound is also very interesting. The two-part show starts with a complete reproduction of “Drama” in the first part, and concludes with “I’ve Seen All Good People” and “Siberian Khatru.” The second part starts with “And You and I,” and then listens to plenty of “Divine Revelation” → “Leaves of Green (Part of Ancient Civilization)” → “Ritual” from “Story of Marine Topography”. , leading to a grand finale with encores ``Roundabout'' and ``Starship Trooper.'' The ``Story of Marine Geomorphology'' part, which has been announced for the performance in Japan, is also noteworthy, but the ``Drama'' in the first half is also wonderful. Since it was performed from April to June, the ensemble was able to perform well, and the originator: Geoff Downs also shined lively as he had his own songs. It seems that it will not be performed at the performance in Japan in November, but it is a shame that it can not be helped. Another point is the drummer. As I mentioned in the commentary for “WALLINGFORD 2016,” Alan White is absent due to surgery in this North American leg, and substitute drummer: Jay Schellen is sitting on the stool. He is a talented musician who has been in various bands such as HURRICANE, BADFINGER, ASIA, GPS, etc., and has teamed up with Billy Sherwood in the progressive rock world. Of course, Alan's return would be the best, but it is definitely a valuable lineup. Even in this work, he does it solidly and reliably, and even parts that Alan, the originator, might have changed at will, are precisely reproduced as original. “WALLINGFORD 2016” The perfect beautiful sound of Discs 1 and 2 is intact, and you can listen to another live performance on another day. A live album that is perfect not only as a side text for "WALLINGFORD 2016" but also to easily enjoy the modern version of "Drama" and "Story of Marine Topography." A beautiful world created by the power of today's digital equipment and the playing ability of the current YES. Live at Hart Theater at The Egg, Albany, NY.
