The "8-man YES" unit, which left a strange brilliance in the history of British progressive rock while reaching the pinnacle of luxury. A new soundboard album is now available. This work records the "Costa Mesa performance on August 6, 1991". This is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of "8-man YES", the official monster box "UNION 30 LIVE" is still fresh in my memory, but this work is a newly excavated board that is not included in it. Anyway, let's start with the position of the show. Let's look back on the overall picture of the world tour, which was also a gravitational singularity in the history of YES. 1991, April 9-29: North America #1a (16 performances) {"Crystal" released on April 30th} ・May 3-21: North America #1b (15 performances) ・May 29-June 30: Europe (20 performances) ・July 5-August 8: North America #2 (28 performances) ←★here★ 1992, February 29-March 5: Japan (5 performances) {8-man YES dismantled} This is the activity outline of "8-man YES". For us, the memorable performance in Japan was a reunion-like position that was several months away, and the main tour was only in 1991. The Costa Mesa performance in this work was the 26th performance of "North America #2", the final edition. Speaking of "8-man YES", the Mountain View performance, which was also the main event of the official work "UNION LIVE", is a symbol, but this work was two days before that (two performances before). This work, recorded at such a show, is a newly excavated soundboard that collectors all over the world are excited about. Its origin is also mysterious, and various speculations are being made. Although it has not yet been confirmed, the current theory is that it is a soundboard recorded for broadcast, but it was leaked without being broadcast. The basis of this theory is the extremely superb sound quality. Now that there is a huge official box, it seems that it would not be a big deal to call it "official class", but it has to be called that. It is a raw and unorganized mix, but that is not a bad thing. The bare core is as vivid as modern IEMs, and the rawness of the unprocessed conveys the ensemble to the subtleties of the subtleties. Moreover, it is irresistible because the owner is "8 people YES", a miracle in rock history. Despite the fact that there are two guitars, keyboards, and drums, each sound is beautifully separated, and no matter how complicatedly they are intertwined, they do not mix. Although the obvious direct sound from the desk does not give you the feeling of experiencing a concert, the sense of synchronization between the live performance and the whole body is immense, and it is possible to analyze the miraculous ensemble in detail. What is also strange is that there is a DJ-like narration at the beginning and during the set change. However, it is only "like" and the tone and content do not seem to be that of a DJ. This is also one of the supports for the theory that "unbroadcast sound board leaks" and is probably the voice of someone involved in the leaking process. It does not overlap with the performance, so it is not a good point or a bad point, but it is also a part that provides a little mystery solving fun. Now, what is drawn with such a mysterious and superb sound board is a show that is a little different from the official "UNION LIVE". As mentioned above, although it is the latest of "UNION LIVE", you can enjoy the number of songs and volume that exceeds the official work that was incompletely recorded. Let's organize it while comparing it here. 70's Classics Third Album: Yours Is No Disgrace/I've Seen All Good People, Fragile: Heart Of The Sunrise/Roundabout, Others: And You And I (★)/Awaken 80's/90's Lonely Heart: Owner Of A Lonely Heart/Changes (★), Crystal: Shock To The System (★), Saving My Heart/Lift Me Up (★), Others: Rhythm Of Love/Make It Easy Other Solo Sections: Clap/Mood For A Day/Solly's Beard/Whitefish/Amazing Grace *Note: The "★" mark indicates songs that could not be heard on the official album "UNION LIVE". ...And so on. Not only can you enjoy the masterpieces "And You And I" and "Changes" and "Lift Me Up", which are only available because they include 90125YES, but they also perform the limited edition song "Shock To The System" for this tour. You can enjoy all of that on a sound board directly connected to your brain. Also, "Yours Is No Disgrace" is a bit interesting. The intro runs smoothly as usual, but no one starts singing at the timing when the vocals come in here! There seems to have been a PA problem, and not only John but also Chris and Howe completely lost their timing, and the voices that burst out involuntarily can be heard on the sound board directly connected to the brain (it's amazing to recover from that hopeless situation). The tremendous sense of synchronization that comes from a sound board directly connected to the table, and the volume far exceeding "UNION LIVE". This is a newly excavated album that allows you to fully enjoy the miracle ensemble of "8 people YES" with amazing quality. An amazing 3-disc set that should be noted in the history of progressive rock. Stereo sound board recording of "Costa Mesa performance on August 6, 1991". A newly excavated master that has not been included in the official box "UNION 30 LIVE", the super direct feeling of direct connection to the table is striking. With a raw and unorganized mix, the bare core conveys the ensemble to its subtleties. You can enjoy a full show with plenty of repertoire that you can't hear on "UNION LIVE", such as "And You And I", "Changes", "Lift Me Up", and "Shock To The System", in superb quality.
