This is a completely new sound source that has not even been released in the trade! ■This is the first time it has been released, and the sound quality is so high! Amazing! I was moved! ■The bonus track includes a sound source from the Brisbane concert, which is also new! The Beatles were a band where the four members were basically equal, even though there was a delicate power relationship between the members. This was a good thing, but it also made it difficult for each member to get their own opinion across. The reason for the Beatles' breakup cannot be generalized, and it can only be said that various factors overlapped, but there is no doubt that one of the major factors was their musical direction. When John proposed "Cold Turkey" as a Beatles single, Paul made a blatantly unpleasant face and was firmly opposed to releasing it as a Beatles single. George was also dissatisfied with the small number of songs he was assigned to on the album. Looking at the movements of each member after the Beatles' breakup, George released all the songs he had written up until then in a triple-disc set, and John became more avant-garde. As for Paul, he was the one who wanted the Beatles to continue, but he sued the other members over the breakup, and the way their strong bond had collapsed to the point of being irreparable was even likened to the breakup of SMAP. After the breakup of the Beatles, Paul's fervent wish was to take the initiative and form a band to achieve success that would surpass the Beatles again. With a name like Paul's, it would have been possible to recruit famous musicians to form a supergroup. In fact, in the early 1970s, there was a trend to gather members from across bands. However, there are few examples of long-term success in Japan that have been achieved by gathering strong personalities, as seen in the group PYG, which broke up in a short period of time. Above all, doing that would have created the same environment as the Beatles. So Paul gathered completely unknown members and formed a band with himself taking the initiative. In the long run, there is no doubt that it was a wise choice. During the band auditions, Dennis Sewell, the drummer of the original Wings, recalled, "Paul seemed to be looking for not only skill, but also something like determination." Yes, Paul was determined to develop a band from scratch. For Paul, it was his greatest wish to achieve success that would surpass that of The Beatles. Compared to John, George, and Ringo, who had already had hits, Paul seemed to have been late to the party, but he steadily developed the band without any rushing. After several changes in members, they finally reached a milestone with a world tour starting in 1975 and a US tour in 1976. After The Beatles broke up, no one doubted Paul's solo success, but it still took six years for him to go on his first US tour. It is not difficult to imagine that there were various conflicts before he got there. However, Paul once again stood in front of his American fans for the first time in 10 years. It is even said that Paul cried when the American tour was a success. To be recognized in America must have been a summit that musicians had to overcome at that time. This work records the Cincinnati performance on May 27th from Wings' 1976 US tour. [May 27, 1976 Cincinnati performance] First, about this Cincinnati performance. This was Paul's first American tour in 10 years since the Beatles, and although it was postponed slightly due to guitarist Jimmy's finger injury, it was a large-scale event with 31 performances over about two months, starting in Fort Worth on May 3, 1976, and ending at the end of June the following year. Incidentally, this was the only year that Wings performed concerts in the United States. They performed consecutively in roughly each city, and in big cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles, they performed three consecutive performances, far exceeding the scale of the Beatles era. Only one performance was held in Cincinnati. This concert was just about halfway through the schedule. [Six songs used in WINGS OVER AMERICA] By the way, the album "WINGS OVER AMERICA" and the movie "ROCK SHOW" were made from this US tour. And like an urban legend, the story that the audio and video footage from the Seattle concert are mainly used has taken on a life of its own. It is not clear where this rumor originated, but it was whispered as if it were true until the 1990s, when there was little information available. However, now we know which performance venue was used for each song. And it has been discovered that the medley of "VENUS AND MARS/ROCK SHOW/JET" that opens the live album "WINGS OVER AMERICA", the next song "LET ME ROLL IT", "CALL ME BACK AGAIN" and "BLUEBIRD" are all from the Cincinnati concert. This number of six songs is the most used out of all the concert venues. Incidentally, only one song, "Egyptian Spirit of Long Ago", was used from the Seattle concert. This fact is nothing but a reflection of the quality of the performance at the Cincinnati concert. Indeed, the medley of "VENUS AND MARS/ROCK SHOW/JET" is familiar to those who have listened to "WINGS OVER AMERICA". The MC "How you feeling, feeling alright? OK!" after the performance is exactly the same as what you are used to hearing on the sound board. However, as you can hear, there are many parts that do not completely match "WINGS OVER AMERICA". For example, in "ROCK SHOW", Paul makes a mistake in the lyrics before singing "It's like Jimmy Page", but in the live album, it is sung cleanly without any mistakes. When "WINGS OVER AMERICA" was released, many fans who heard it for the first time were surprised. This is because the entire concert was recorded with no mistakes and a perfect performance. Of course, this is the result of numerous corrections made later, and the aforementioned lyric mistakes do not match because they were re-recorded later. "WINGS OVER AMERICA" is a "made" live album, so much so that not only the performance parts but also the cheers were re-recorded in the studio by gathering fans for dubbing. However, this work is an audience recording, and the sounds that were ringing at that time, that day, and at that place are recorded as they were. The opening medley of "WINGS OVER AMERICA" is from the Cincinnati performance recorded in this work, but I hope you will pay attention to that point and listen to it. [About sound quality] This work is recorded with a high-quality audience sound source. As you can hear by listening to the sample, it is a high-quality sound that is comparable to other performances in 1976, such as Los Angeles. What is surprising is that this sound source is a completely new sound source that has never been released to the public, and has not even been distributed between trades. Although there were two types of sound sources of the Cincinnati performance, the sound quality was terrible, and they were only partially recorded as bonus tracks on M Claudel label's "THE GREAT RETURN OF AMERICA" and "WINGS OVER SEATTLE". It is quite surprising that a third type of sound source of this important Cincinnati performance was unearthed in the 21st century. Of course, this is the first time it has appeared and released on CD. There is no doubt that this will become a representative title of the 1976 American tour. [About the contents] Unfortunately, there are some defects in the main sound source. There are two missing parts at the beginning of "JET" and from the end of "SILLY LOVE SONGS" to the beginning of "BEWARE MY LOVE". These are neatly supplemented by another source from the same day in Cincinnati, so it is still a complete recording. In addition, there were several skips due to physical factors of the original tape that were less than one second long, so these were also supplemented with another source on the same day, and the concert was completely recorded, from the commotion before the concert started to the state after the concert ended. [About the costumes] Another thing, which is not related to the sound source, is about the costumes. Impressions and memories of images are strong, and perhaps due to the influence of Melbourne, where the footage remains, and the movie "ROCK SHOW," it seems that in 1975, the costumes were unified in a judo uniform-like costume, and in 1976, the costumes were unified in a wrestling gown-like costume with white lines. However, there were several types of costumes, and in the photo of the Cincinnati performance that remains on the day, they are wearing a navy blue collared stadium jacket-like costume, as in the jacket photo of this work. Both Paul and Linda wore the same costume. It is unknown when the jacket photo of this work was taken, but on the day of the Cincinnati performance, they stood on stage wearing these costumes. [Brisbane performance on November 10, 1975] This work includes eight songs from the Brisbane performance on November 10, 1975 as bonus tracks. This is also a first-time sound source, and was credited as a soundboard sound source, but the vocals can be heard by the audience, so I would like to hold off on drawing a conclusion for now. In any case, the sound quality is so high that it is hard to tell whether it is a soundboard or an audience, and it is a pleasure to have such high-quality sound sources unearthed, even though it is only eight songs, since the Brisbane performance was not blessed with sound quality. Moreover, it is also wonderful that it includes "LITTLE WOMAN LOVE ? C MOON", which was a feature of the 1975 tour and was removed from the set list the following year in 1976 after the set list was changed with the release of "WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND". [WINGS OVER CINCINNATI 1976] This work is a complete recording of the May 27, 1976 Cincinnati performance, which was the most popular six songs on the live album "WINGS OVER AMERICA", with a high-quality audience sound source that had never been available between trades. In particular, the opening medley of "VENUS AND MARS/ROCK SHOW/JET", which symbolizes this tour, is a performance that is officially adopted in this work. It is an excellent performance in terms of material that can be listened to throughout the day. In addition, the bonus track includes the Brisbane performance on November 10, 1975, also recorded with a high-quality sound source for the first time. RIVERFRONT STADIUM CINCINNATI OH U.S.A.
