It is no exaggeration to say that the September radio broadcast at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam is a classic that rivals Woodstock among The Who's 1969 soundboards. The sound quality is excellent because it is a two-track stereo recording, and since the so-called "Pre-FM" stage sound source before the broadcast has been circulating for a long time, it has been popular as a stereo soundboard recording that represents the Who live in 1969 since the LP era. This is the best version of this classic restored by "Prof. Stoned", who also revealed the process by which this sound source was circulated during the work. Already in the mid-1970s, a maniac who succeeded in copying the "Pre-FM" master reel from a broadcasting station shared the sound source with several people at a family level, not in a trade, and as a result, in the 1980s, LP releases such as "THE FIRST COMPLETE ROCK OPERA" were released one after another, and the existence and greatness of this soundboard became known. From here, the CD era began, and the nostalgic TSP released the same sound source in "LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969". There must have been many enthusiasts who were indebted to this. In 2000, when the era changed to CD trading, the previous enthusiast quickly released a version that had been copied again with the highest sound quality while cutting the gaps between the songs, and this was released as "AMAZING JOURNEY", which is also a masterpiece that many enthusiasts have been indebted to. After such a story, the "with cuts between the songs" version became widespread in the early 21st century, but of course it was booed by enthusiasts. After that, copies of the uncut version finally circulated, and in 2005, the version restored by "Prof. Stoned" spread in an instant and produced many items. Currently, it is probably familiar from items such as "THE COMPLETE AMSTERDAM" released by Poison Apple. However, "Prof. Stoned" made further fine adjustments in 2006. The most basic sound quality was already completed in the 2005 version, and some of the songs were redone in 2006, with some volume level adjustments. On the contrary, there was a regrettable editing mistake in "THE COMPLETE AMSTERDAM" where the disc was divided between "Eyesight To The Blind" and "Christmas", which were originally played without a break, but this time, the merit is that you can listen to it without any problems. Above all, "Prof. Stoned's" work is excellent, and the sound source, which has excellent sound quality, is now a stereo soundboard album that can be enjoyed by a wide range of people from beginners to enthusiasts, and is an undeniable finish. The best-selling "COMPLETE WOODSTOCK 1969" was a multi-track recording, but this is a soundboard recording recorded live from the site by a radio station using a 2-track stereo. Although it is very clear, it has a rugged texture that is different from multi-track, which is its great appeal. Moreover, while Woodstock was a short stage for a festival, this is a high point because it completely records the full-size live performance of the Who alone with the best sound quality. Because it is a stereo soundboard, the sound quality tends to be the focus of attention, but the content is also really great. Of particular note is the scene where they try out "Tommy Can You Hear Me" for the first time in the "TOMMY" part. In addition, it is played in a higher key than the album version, and the atmosphere is clearly rougher than the songs before and after that that they were used to playing. In fact, Pete and Roger's singing and playing become suspicious, but the charm of this broadcast is that such a precious scene is captured with the best sound quality. And above all, the development of the finale "My Generation" is amazing like no other. The unexpected development that Pete plays "Pinball Wizard" that he has already performed in the "TOMMY" part again in this song. It's surprising that John plays the phrase "The OX" as if in response, and the highlight is the unexpected ending of "Sparks" which also returned to "TOMMY". Anyway, the Amsterdam 69 stereo soundboard recording has always been a hit in terms of sound quality, but this time the definitive version has been released with the final restoration by "Prof. Stoned". A perfect stereo soundboard of the 69-year-old "TOMMY" show, which is completely different from the Leeds show a few months later!
