WHITESNAKE returned to Japan in 2006, announcing a full-fledged restart with the live album "LIVE... IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLUES" which included new songs. Delicious new excavated original recordings of extremely rare songs will be released. This work is inspired by the "May 21, 2006: Tokyo International Forum" performance. This is a powerful audience recording. For some reason, I wasn't blessed with many recordings during my visit to Japan in 2006 (maybe because the official live album had just come out?). This is also a good opportunity, so let's look back at the schedule from that time.・May 9: Zepp Fukuoka ・May 10: Hiroshima Postal Savings Hall ・May 12: Nagoya Civic Center ・May 14: Pacifico Yokohama ・May 15: Act City Hamamatsu ・May 16: Grand Cube Osaka, May 18th: Niigata Terrsa, May 19th: Zepp Sendai, May 21st: Tokyo International Forum ←★This work★ A total of 9 performances. To date, 21st Century WHITESNAKE has visited Japan seven times, but 2006 was the year with the highest number of performances. Even though he returned to Japan without any new releases from the studio, he showed off his deep-rooted popularity. The performance of this work at the Tokyo International Forum was the highlight of the performance, Chiakiraku. This work, which was recorded at such a site, is an original recording that combines a neat sound and a realistic feeling at the site. Although there is an undeniable sense of distance as it was recorded from the second floor seats, the core that penetrates the atmosphere is powerful and reaches straight like a laser beam. Since the master was given by the recording artist himself, there should be no dubbing marks, and the fresh sound conveys every detail. In fact, even though the hall sound is quite thick, the ensemble does not become lumpy, and you can clearly enjoy the beauty of the twin interplay and harmony. The fresh sound depicts a full show that includes delicious extremely rare songs. This is a set that is similar to and different from the official live album "LIVE... IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLUES" that just came out, so let's compare and organize it. Classics Deep Purple: Burn/Stormbringer Classic Snake: Walking In The Shadow Of Blues/Love Hunter (★)/Ready An' Willing/Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City/Take Me With You Geffen era・Slide It In: Guilty Of Love (★) / Love Ain't No Stranger / Slow An' Easy ・Serpens Albus: Is This Love / Crying In The Rain / Give Me All Your Love / Here I Go Again / Still Of The Night Others・Ready To Rock/Snake Dance *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “LIVE... IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLUES”. ...and it looks like this. At the time, I was happy to see the revival of "Love Hunter" and "Guilty Of Love," but from today's perspective, the biggest point is "Ready To Rock." It was the first new song with Doug Aldrich, but it was an extremely rare song that had only been performed in Sendai and at an international forum in Japan, and maybe 10 times worldwide. You can experience this precious live performance at the venue in Tokyo. Also, this work has a delicious on-site feel. Basically, there are no up-close voices, but I do catch the sounds of roars and exclamations. This is so real. For example, the opening song “Burn”. They must have been playing "Bad Boys" at the scene, and as soon as that riff popped out, a tremendous "ooooooooooo!" erupted from the first floor seats, and happy voices were heard from those near the recording person. (laughs) Moreover, as the song descends into “Stormbringer,” an even bigger chorus erupts, and when it returns to “Burn,” the song is roaring once again. Looking back on it now, it seems like an overly forced arrangement, but the effect is tremendous. The joy I feel when I hear it for the first time makes me feel nostalgic. It's a musical work with historically rare songs that are delicious, but at the same time it's also a live album that stirs up a sense of nostalgia. WHITESNAKE has caused controversy after David Coverdale said, ``We will have a farewell tour'' in 2022. It will probably come to Japan, but this work is a perfect one to soothe while waiting for the news of the decision to come to Japan. Now that the joy of restarting has become a nostalgic page, I want to experience that space again.
