The Japan tour accompanying the release of ``SERPENS ALBUS'' in 1988 began with four consecutive performances at the Yoyogi Olympic Pool from June 11th to 15th, followed by stops in Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka (2 performances). A total of 8 performances were held until June 22nd. However, the only show that is highly recognized as a collector's item is June 13th, the third day in Tokyo. Although the sound source is a masterpiece called “THE NIGHT SERPENT” and “PLEDGE OF VICTORY”, this is very rare. Therefore, this work, which is a complete recording of the Yokohama performance on June 16th, the 5th day of the tour, with a high-quality audience recording using the original master for about 100 minutes, has been re-released by fans since it appeared for a limited time last year. I have been strongly requested to appear. This time, to commemorate the release of "CHILDREN OF THE FIRST NIGHT" on the first day of the 1988 Japan tour, we will once again be releasing this precious sound source! There is some distance between the taper and the stage, and the input of bass sounds such as rhythm seems to be a little excessive, but the musical sounds themselves are well recorded with a stable sound image. Also, the sound clarity and brightness are quite good, and the listener should be able to easily get into the live performance. In particular, Coverdale's vocals, which resonate from the center of the stereo, have a strong presence from the opening songs "Bad Boys" and "Slide It In," and his performance throughout the live performance is full of power. You can enjoy the roaring audience with a rich sense of reality, and listeners will be able to relive the entire live performance with a solid listening response. WHITESNAKE at the time of "SERPENS ALBUS" was characterized by their solid, well-organized, and highly complete live performances, avoiding as much as possible the improvised parts that they had in the '70s and early '80s. Therefore, the performance itself is a professional show that is comparable to the Yoyogi performances of "THE NIGHT SERPENT" and "PLEDGE OF VICTORY". However, it is not the same show. Perhaps due to the sense of relief that the big stage Tokyo performance was a success, Coverdale's MC and the band's performances seemed more natural and relaxed, and the Yokohama performance was filled with a groove full of spontaneity. I'm doing it. It is not only Coverdale that catches the ear in the performance, but also the twin guitar virtuosity that unfolds in the intro of “Guilty Of Love” and “Crying In The Rain”. This tour is the only time that Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell, two talented guitarists, will be performing together. Although the later Steve Vai era was more flashy and glamorous, it can be said that 1988 was the year when the melodious, European-inspired metal sound reached its peak. In particular, the nearly 12-minute long solo at the beginning of "Crying In The Rain" is a great listen, and you can fully enjoy the flashy gorgeousness and classical fast playing. The dramatic performance and ups and downs of “Still Of The Night”, which concludes the main part of the set, is a masterpiece. After the 1990 tour, Coverdale's voice tends to get rougher, but the powerful high tone that grew intensely in 1988 was wonderful, and I fell in love with his strangled screams. The encore started with “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City”, which has been the band’s identity for a long time. The introduction of the song, MC Coverdale's low resonating voice saying "Blues song for you...this is a special for you," and One and Only's deep vocal improvisations are sure to make fans irresistible. Sho. Even if you're not a fan, you'll be captivated by the performance that blends these elements into a song with a natural atmosphere. The performance includes Rudy Sarzo's impressive bass that echoes in the middle chorus part, Tommy Aldridge's resonant drums, and an edgy guitar solo that maintains a European mood despite its appearance. It's amazing beyond words! At the time, it was a promise that ZZ TOP's parody cover song "Tits" would be featured at the end of the live show, but on this day it was not played, probably due to time constraints, and "We Wish You Well" announced the end of the performance to the venue. However, it is played as if savoring the afterglow of the live performance. This recording includes this "We Wish You Well" and the Japanese announcement after the performance without being cut, and has great value as a document of the same day. After this, the band toured the United States from the end of June to August, mainly featuring GREAT WHITE as a special guest, and completed the "SERPENS ALBUS" tour with great success. However, during the production process of the next film, Vivian was fired, and WHITESNAKE, which welcomed Steve Vai, turned into an even bigger monster. However, as you can see if you listen to the performances from this period, the "Metal Snake" route probably reached its peak during Vivian's tenure. The momentum of their upward momentum backed by their worldwide success and their top-notch performance is full of enthusiasm and positive mood that can only be recorded by audience recording. Please enjoy the WHITESNAKE sound full of colorful and bright images that symbolize this era with "CHILDREN OF THE FIRST NIGHT"!
