WHITESNAKE of "SERPENS ALBUS" has been reborn with a new member. From the 1988 Japan tour that took place after the release of the album, the first Yoyogi Olympic pool performance will appear for the first time! The original cassette master, which is completely unknown even among traders, is used directly and discovered with a high-quality audience source! ``SERPENS ALBUS'', which began production in 1985, became a record that greatly changed the way the band WHITESNAKE was. While the group achieved unprecedented success, by the time the album was released in 1987, all the main members, including John Sykes and Neil Murray, had left the band. Afterwards, for the start of the tour, Coverdale selected a lineup that could be described as a "super band", including Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell. During their American tour that began in June 1987, they performed a metallic stage that set them apart from past bands, loudly proclaiming the new birth of WHITESNAKE. In addition, Coverdale even surpassed their DEEP PURPLE era, with their "The Return Of The Snake" UK tour from the end of December to the beginning of January 1988, selling out "Wembley Arena" for three consecutive days in London. It was a great success. WHITESNAKE's performance in Japan, which was realized for the first time in about 4 years since '84, is the climax of the "SERPENS ALBUS" tour. At this time, a total of 8 performances were held from June 11th to 22nd, including 4 days at Yoyogi Olympic Pool in Tokyo until June 15th, as well as 2 performances in Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka, thrilling Japanese fans in various places. I let it happen. Speaking of the sound source of this '88 Japan tour, the 3rd day in Tokyo on June 13th, which was also broadcast on FM, is a classic. There is a concentration of excellent items, including sound boards such as "THE NIGHT SERPENT" and "OLYMPIC NIGHT", as well as "PLEDGE OF VICTORY", which is a superlative audience recording that is comparable to them. However, perhaps because the presence of the third day in Tokyo is too strong, the other live shows are surprisingly unknown. In this work, the unknown opening day of Tokyo (June 11th) is packaged with audience sources that appear for the first time. Although it may be a step down from the above-mentioned "THE NIGHT SERPENT" and "PLEDGE OF VICTORY," it is still of a quality that can be said to be more than excellent for an audience seating recording made about 25 years ago, so you can thoroughly enjoy the live performance. I will let you When you play the disc, the excitement in the venue comes out vividly, with the sound effects of a thunderstorm in the background. The cheers from the audience seemed to show how much Japanese fans were looking forward to WHITSNAKE's return to Japan. Although the stage feels a little far away, the clarity of the recording is certain. Listeners will be able to experience not only the performance but also the mood and excitement of the venue. For a while after the live performance started with “Bad Boys,” the clapping and applause continued without stopping. For this reason, there are some scenes where it is difficult to hear the performance at the beginning, but this is also a taste unique to live tapes. Coverdale's high tone, which extends powerfully only at this time, can be heard not only in this "Bad Boys" but also in the following "Slide It In" and the middle "Guilty Of Love" with a firm outline. Adrian and Vivian's twin guitars can also be enjoyed with a floating sound image in solo scenes. Even though the band's style and sound have changed dramatically, the grooves and melodies typical of WHITESNAKE remain intact. "Slow An' Easy", with its impressive tight rhythm by Tommy Aldridge and Lu Di Sarzo, is profound and powerful, as well as the reborn "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love," which was performed for the first time in Japan. ' will let the listener fully enjoy the sophisticated melody. The highlight of the live performance is "Crying In The Rain," which is led by Adrian and Vivian's 10-minute guitar solo. Coverdale's singing and the band's ensemble in this 1988 song are simply wonderful, and any listener will be captivated (note that at 2:17 of "Crying In The Rain" there is a partial omission due to a tape change). exists). Furthermore, “Still Of The Night” dramatically excites the climax of the live performance, and you will be knocked out by the unfolding development! In the encore, the band's representative song “(Ain't No Love) In The Heart Of The City” will be featured first. At the end, “Give Me All Your Love” closed with a joy that seemed to involve the entire venue. On this day, the parody play number “Tits” is not played, but it feels more like a WHITESNAKE live, and it feels tighter. WHITESNAKE's 1988 performance in Japan is a rare tour in their history, as as mentioned above, although several definitive class items are known, the overall production of items has been delayed. In particular, the first day's pattern (which is somewhat surprising) has never been made into an item in a proper form, so avid enthusiasts should not miss it.
