A brilliant video masterpiece from the Steve Vai era is now available! “LIQUOR & POKER WORLD TOUR 1990” accompanying “SLIP OF THE TONGUE” started on February 2, 1990. This work was recorded two weeks later at the “February 15, 1990 Albany performance”, which is the very early stage of the 9th tour performance. As it was a huge success worldwide, there are a lot of recordings and videos from the Vai era, but this work is the only one that conveys the very early stages of the tour with a quality that is better than Matomo. In fact, the quality of this work is truly amazing. This video itself has been known to core collectors for a long time, but this work is truly master quality. Since the video was shot at the time, it cannot be compared to today's dazzling digital image quality, but it is a masterpiece with excellent freshness, no tracking noise, and beautiful coloring. The panoramic view of the stage from the second-floor seats on the Vai side provides a clear view of the stage, and the arms and heads of the front rows are not reflected. Since the release of the official DVD "LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990", the footage from the Vai era has often been overlooked, but that was shot for the on-site screen. Although there were many close-ups, it was difficult to grasp the overall atmosphere of the concert. In that respect, this work allows you to see the entire stage and clearly understand the combinations of each member. When I write this, people might think that this is a small shot from a distance, but of course that is not the case. Zoom is also used extensively, and the highlights of David Coverdale and Vai, as well as Rudy Sarzo and Adrian Vandenberg running around the stage, are captured perfectly. What's more, since it moves from a panoramic view of the stage to a close-up, you can watch it without losing the atmosphere of the concert. The visual beauty alone is amazing, but what's even more great is the sound. Of course, it is not as good as the line sound of the official "LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990", but it is suitable for an unobstructed field of view, and the clarity that arrives straight without disturbing the band's musical sound is wonderful. There were no noisy spectators nearby, and only the dynamism of the loud cheers rising from the first-floor seats was captured deliciously. Since this work was recorded with such high quality, press production was also considered, but there were many problems. There are cuts in "Slide It In," "Is This Love," "Cheap & Nasty," and "Crying In The Rain," probably due to a shooting failure on the way. If only I had this.... However, the biggest charm of this work that blows away such shortcomings is that it is “the very early stage of the tour”. Coverdale changed to a shouting style in 1987, but in this “LIQUOR & POKER WORLD TOUR 1990”, his voice was already starting to show its roughness. However, in this work, since it is very early, Coverdale is in great condition. The carefree high notes reminiscent of 1987 and 1988, the depth of the deep singing voice... Of course, there are plenty of highlights, such as the guitar solo by the genius of the century Vai, but even Coverdale's voice alone is a masterpiece that surpasses "LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990." WHITESNAKE's "LIQUOR & POKER WORLD TOUR 1990" is the biggest in history . After all, you can only understand the true value of live performances from this era by watching them on video. Among them, this is one of the few masterpiece videos that conveys Coverdale's best condition. There is a long history of WHITESNAKE, and there are many quality and uncut videos that exceed this work, but there is nothing that conveys the essence of the "unique and great heyday" era more than this work. This is a masterpiece that I would like as many people as possible to know about, even if it has some shortcomings. Knickerbocker Arena, Albany, NY. USA 15th February 1990 AMAZING SHOT!!!
