This is the second release of the radio program that was released last week and was well received. This album contains the first episode of the "Rock Summer Class" by a famous DJ, "British Blues Rock," which was broadcast for five days from August 5th to 9th, 1975. He is the only DJ in this class. There is a slight radio reception noise and a tape change interruption during the DJ talk, but the flow is not a problem, and the entire 55 minutes are captured with very clear sound quality. The clarity is so good that you can even hear the scratch noise of the old record master that he plays. In this DJ's (music critic) view, while the origins of British rock (pop) are the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, he also lists the Yardbirds, who were based on R&B and more bluesy, as the top of the list, and the class will focus on the three great guitarists, Clapton, Beck, and Page. First, the program introduces rare blues session songs from the very early days of Clapton and Page, and songs from the time when John Mayall, a central figure in the London white blues scene at the time, was a member of his band, and Peter Green, who was as highly regarded as Clapton, was a member. Then, while playing Yardbirds songs from the time when each of the three great guitarists was a member, the program describes the change in musicality as the development process of the early days of British blues rock. In the middle part, the program states that the band started out by simply copying and playing "blues," which expressed the suffering of black people, but then they began to add their own concerns as white British people, which resulted in their unique development. This is the essence of the course. Then, as examples of the second phase, songs by Cream, Traffic, and Jeff Beck Group are introduced. It is easy to see how the British blues scene, which started out as a simple copy of blues, developed into its own unique style. It is surprising that Led Zeppelin is not included here, but I guess this is because he wanted to feature Zep in the "Hard Rock Lecture". Therefore, he shifts the focus of the evolution of British blues rock to Clapton only, and ends the course with Blind Faith to Derek and the Dominos. It can be said that the DJ himself saw a microcosm of the evolution of British blues rock in Clapton, who ultimately did not stay in the UK but went solo to the southern United States, where the music originated. With his unique and sophisticated song selection and his characteristic commentary, this is an interesting course that is easy to understand for beginners and enthusiasts alike. "British Blues Rock Lecture" is worth listening to at least once. Broadcast Date: 5th August 1975 1. DJ Talk 2. Miles Road - The Yardbirds (Eric Clapton & Jimmy Page) 3. DJ Talk 4.
