The big event "THE CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS 2016 + LIVE PERFORMANCE" is already becoming a legend in Western music history. The superb professional shots are set to be released. I don't know where to start... The music event held about a year ago, "November 11, 2016: Ryogoku Kokugikan", was legendary from start to finish. To start with, "THE CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS" is a music awards event that began in London in 2005. It was held annually in London, but gradually expanded in scale. Following the Los Angeles event in 2014, it was decided to hold the event in Japan for the first time in Asia in 2016. That was fine, but what happened afterwards was not good. Although Jimmy Page's live performance and collaboration with Jeff Beck were widely announced, he actually only participated as a presenter. The fact that Page did not perform caused controversy, and even the official information was confusing, with some saying "it was canceled at the request of Page just before the performance" and others saying "Page was not scheduled to perform in the first place." Moreover, the tickets were expensive, ranging from 18,000 yen to a maximum of 300,000 yen, so the calls for refunds blew up, became general news, and even comedians who have nothing to do with Western music on variety shows criticized Page with a smug look on their faces. The organizers, who had once said "we will not accept refunds," were eventually forced to accept refunds. This alone is legendary enough, but it was not over yet. It was reported that the event would be held in Japan the following year in 2017, but one month after this event, TeamRock, the British company that licenses "THE CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS," suddenly went bankrupt. As a result, the 2017 event was canceled, and the history of the event, which had lasted for 12 years, came to an end. Currently, the license has been bought by Future Plc, but it is still unclear whether it will be held in 2018... It was a strange event that was full of points to point out, but the footage was broadcast in countries around the world. This work is a one and a half hour long overseas documentary program. The quality is, of course, superb. Since it is an edited program rather than a live broadcast, it is nice to be able to focus on the highlights. The opening loincloth Japanese drums and kabuki opening are (somehow...), but this is also legendary, and the awkward hosting of Dave Mustaine, who is aiming to be a METALLICA-level celebrity (?), is also amusing (by the way, it seems that Mustaine was the one who took notes most seriously during the meeting). Of course, what is even more amazing is the live performance. CHEAP TRICK, where Rick Nielsen jokes, "We're back at the Budokan!", Richie Sambora, who is on friendly terms with Orianthi, and Jeff Keith of TESLA, who takes the vocals and performs with Rudolf Schenker and Phil Collen. Johnny Depp, who is visiting Japan for the first time as a guitarist, also appears, and performs with Joe Perry as "HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES without Alice". Although it is far from all performances, there is plenty of luxurious and special mood. And the biggest highlight is the "Icon Award" presented by Jimmy Page and awarded to Jeff Beck. The venue is very excited from the appearance of Page, but there is no guitar in his hand. He introduces Jeff Beck empty-handed and leaves as it is... Unfortunately, there is no special performance by Beck in this broadcast, but now that I know the whole story, this scene alone is very thrilling. This work ends with "Train Kept A-Rollin'" performed by Johnny Depp, Joe Perry, Rudolf Schenker, and Jeff Keith. Normally, it would be a dazzlingly luxurious scene, but the image of Paige quickly leaving the stage remains in my mind... Even if the name "THE CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS" is revived in the future, it will never be held in Japan again. The "incident" of 2016 that ended the history of the glorious famous event. This is a photo of the event, including its decisive moment, captured in a superb professional shot of how luxurious and different it was.
