The second installment of the popular 1988 "Monsters of Rock" complete reproduction series features the first live performance of Dave Lee Roth, Kiss and headliner Iron Maiden, recorded over a total of 252 minutes by the master of the famous taper Crazy S. In the late 1980s, when the global heavy metal movement was at its peak, an unprecedented 100,000 people gathered at the field for the luxurious lineup. As a result, the 1988 Donington Festival was remembered as a "Truiumph & Tragedy" concert, as reported in Kerrang magazine at the time, when a tragedy occurred in which two spectators were crushed to death during the performance of Guns & Roses, who performed second. This is a spectacular document that allows you to enjoy the scale-full live performance of each band performing in front of a huge crowd filled with excitement and enthusiasm, with the highest level of audience recording. Dave Lee Roth's 62-minute stage on Disc 1 is the first bootleg! Why has this wonderful sound source not been released until now? The surprisingly high quality content is a must-listen for all metal and hard rock fans! The sound quality is the highest level of audience recording, and you can experience the show of the day with a realistic sound image with outstanding freshness. It is a master sound source that boasts a good balance with almost no muddiness or distortion of the sound. It was the time when the second solo "Skyscraper" was released, and the guitar is of course Steve Vai. You can listen to a great live performance with the technical and high-quality rhythm of the Bissonette brothers in the background. After the third song, Just Like Paradise, Dave seemed to have been told something, and after a moment of silence, he said, "This is a bit of an unusual announcement. Everyone, please stand down!" MC. Immediately after the lively Knucklebones, you can hear a jazzy improvisation with the piano as the main focus, but Dave, playing along with the piano in a fun way, appeals to the audience to step back, saying, "Are you all okay? Just fuckin' move back!" After a little under 2 minutes and 30 seconds of improvisation, Hot For Teacher explodes, exciting the venue. Vai's incredible speed playing is a masterpiece. Just by listing the song titles in the second half of the show, Yankee Rose, Panama, California Girls, You Really Got Me, and Jump, you can see how exciting it was. The spontaneous groove, which is different from a normal hall concert, can be felt in real places, and fans can enjoy a very satisfying performance. Both the content and sound quality are outstanding, and this is a must-listen take that will surely become a representative sound source of Dave Lee Roth at this time, even though it is his first appearance. Disc 2 contains the complete Kiss stage, also recorded with a high-quality audience recording. It is the same master as the Langley record "100,000 People Can't Be Wrong!" (now out of print), which first appeared 10 years ago, but the high pitch has been adjusted to just right. By adjusting the sound image that was leaning to the right and mitigating the excessive bass, a more listenable sound has been achieved. From Deuce, where you can hear the opening as in the golden age set for the first time in a long time, to Detroit Rock City at the end of the show, you can enjoy the whole picture of the show with a clear and stable sound image (34 minutes longer than the broadcast sound source). The live performance on this day was later broadcast in excerpts on BBC Radio, but although it was an audience recording, only this version can hear Deuce, Love Gun, Rock And Roll All Nite, and Detroit Rock City, which were not included in it. The natural and vivid texture, which is different from the line recording, reproduces the live performance of the day with the best sound. You can hear the riff of Zeppelin's Heartbreaker before Fits Like A Glove. The numbers from the new album "Crazy Nights" at that time are also great, and you can enjoy the fresh sound of the good songs filled with positive feelings that are played one after another. Bruce Kulick's flashy and technical guitar, which feels very 80's, and Eric Carr's tight and straight drums allow you to experience the charm of Kiss' live stage in the late 80's. Paul Stanley, who skillfully manipulates the large crowd, Gene Simmons' brilliant vocal performance, and the MC are very powerful, and fans can enjoy 73 minutes that are sure to be very satisfied. Discs 3 and 4 contain about 2 hours of Iron Maiden's live performance, completely recorded with the highest level of high quality audience recording. This sound source first appeared under the same title in 2006, but by lowering the high pitch and adjusting the volume, a higher quality sound has been achieved. The sound is a bit muffled for the first two minutes of Moonchild, but after that you can enjoy the whole show with a clear sound that makes you think "Crazy S." The live performance on this day had eight songs on the official "BBC Archives" and three live takes on the single The Clairvoyant, but the eight songs The Evil That Men Do, Can I Play With Madness, Wasted Years, Run To The Hills, 22 Acacia Avenue, 2 Minutes To Midnight, Running Free, and Sanctuary will be appearing for the first time. Even though it is an audience recording, it is recorded at a level that is not inferior to line recording, and the power of the big spectacular show that can be heard all the way through is quite tremendous. During the release of "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son", there was no tour of Japan, so you can listen to it with a fresh feeling and at the same time, you can recognize the high quality of the songs on the album. The songs are hardly disturbed by the cheers, but between songs, moderate cheers are recorded realistically, livening up the mood. Running Free, where you can hear the powerful exchanges, is the best word. In particular, Disc 2, where you can enjoy the excitement in the second half with the best sound quality, is really amazing, and the last fireworks are recorded with a powerful sound. I think the band heard about the accident before the start of the live, but after the fourth song, Wrathchild, Bruce can be heard speaking to the audience in a very British and calm tone to cool down. The sound quality is the best of the three bands, and except for the sound at the beginning and the tape reversal point, you can enjoy the whole show with a high sound quality that can be said to be exceptional as an audience recording at that time. If you listen normally, you can mistake it for a broadcast line recording (the 40 minutes on Disc 2 are overwhelming! !!), and it can be said that it is a must-listen sound source for fans who can recognize the high quality of the Crazy S. sound source of this day.
