The Midnight Special is a legendary American program that left behind many treasured videos. A selection of the best of the show has been reissued in the ultimate quality version. The Midnight Special was truly a legendary music program. It was a late-night program that aired on NBC from August 1972 to March 1981, and aired treasured videos of stars from the 70s. Combined with the unique content of the program, the archived footage is still considered a treasure today, making it a masterpiece of music variety. Our shop has introduced many of the archived works. This program is also characterized by the fact that the musicians themselves host the show, and in addition to the Olivia Newton-John episode, which was also released in the regular version, the diverse lineup has been well received, including the PROCOL HARUM episode, the THE KINKS episode, the Steve Miller episode, and the SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE episode. This work is also an archive of such a legendary program, but it is a little different from usual. While other works are archives of one broadcast, this work is a special edited version in which the program official selected and reconstructed the best scenes from season 1/2. Therefore, unlike usual, this work does not have a specific host and has a wider range of genres. The order of recording is random, but here we will introduce them in chronological order. August 1972 broadcast: Pilot version (2 songs) Although this work is titled "1973", in fact, the selection is a little wider. The oldest are two songs selected from the "August 19, 1972" broadcast. "The Midnight Special" was once a week, but regular broadcasting began in February 1973. This day was the pilot version that preceded it. The songs selected were Linda Ronstadt and the famous British progressive rock band ARGENT. Linda appeared in the "LINDA RONSTADT" era, but she sang "Long, Long Time" from the previous work "SILK PURSE". February-March 1973 (4 songs) Four songs were selected from the February-March 1973 period when regular broadcasting began. In addition to our popular Steely Dan (3rd) and The Doobie Brothers (4th), country band Anne Murray (6th) and folk rock band SEALS & CROFTS (7th) were also selected. All of them appeared during the promotion period of new songs, and the selection not only shows the best of each musician, but also vividly conveys the era of the program's beginning in early 1973. May-June 1973 (3 songs) Three songs from the May-June period when the program was on track. Around this time, the range of genres became even wider, with Motown-era Gladys Knight & The Pips, reggae band Johnny Nash (both 15th), and folk rock band Jim Croce (21st) also appearing. September-October 1973 (4 songs) This work was selected from the first and second seasons of "The Midnight Special," but the changeover was in September 1973. Specifically, Billy Preston (No. 32: September 1st) and Edgar Winter (No. 33: September 8th) are the last of the first season. T. REX (No. 15: September) and psychedelic soul band WAR (No. 20: October 20th) are the second season. At this point, the new song promotions start to feel a bit different. Billy Preston, just before the release of "EVERYBODY LIKES SOME KIND OF MUSIC," picks up "Will It Go Round In Circles" from his previous album "MUSIC IS MY LIFE," and T. REX, even though it was already the "TANX" era, selected "Bang-A-Gong (Get It On)." The performance doesn't feel like a new song unveiling, and Marc Bolan goes wild, whipping his guitar. The later songs in this series are Loggins & Messina on December 15, 1973 (episode 14 of the second season) and Helen Reddy on February 2, 1974 (episode 21). Loggins & Messina had already released "FULL SAIL", but they performed "Your Mama Don't Dance" from the previous year's "LOGGINS AND MESSINA". This is a collection of 15 treasured videos. "The Midnight Special" has produced many legendary performances. This is a special selection of the essence of the show, condensed by the program official. Released by the legendary music program. This is an official selection of masterpieces, and you can enjoy the keynote performances of a luxurious cast including Linda Ronstadt, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Edgar Winter, and T. Rex.
