This is a black and white pro shot video from October 11th, the final day of the International Essen Pop & Blues Festival, held in Essen, Germany for three days from October 9th to 11th, 1969. It is still fresh in our memory that two Pink Floyd songs appeared in ultra-high quality a few years ago, surprising fans, and this disc is an expanded version of that. The Floyd version was 21 minutes long, but this disc is 86 minutes long, including precious footage of five bands: Deep Purple, Nice, Taste, Keef Hartley Band, and Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, making it a very worthwhile content. The content is a mixture of takes with and without time codes, but the quality of both the image and sound is uniform and high (there seem to be two types in terms of texture, but both are high quality), and it is a first-class item that is not only highly valuable as a document, but also has high entertainment value that fans of all levels can enjoy to the fullest, and it can be said that it is a first-class item that could be officially released as it is. Some of the footage was already available, but this was the first time it was released in this quality and length, and it can be said to be one of the major events in the history of classic rock. The opening track, Deep Purple's Wring That Neck, and the two tracks, Mandrake Root, are split into two parts and last for a total of 17 minutes and 40 seconds. You can hear the young Ian Gillan singing along, but the majority of the footage is intense improvisation, and the incredible performance will keep your eyes glued to the screen. John's sharp playing is featured on the first two tracks, and Richie's long-awaited solo is featured in Mandrake Root Pt.2. The taste of the young Rory Gallagher's heroic figure and the high-quality footage of the Nice led by Keith Emerson, who was at the peak of his popularity at the time, will be irresistible to British rock fans. You can enjoy the strong organ playing in the nice Rondo and Country Pie, and you can enjoy the Jersey piano solo fingerwork in the latter half of the song Hang On To A Dream. The editing is a little busy (overdoing it), but the camera angles are great, and the audio is of very high quality, so you can enjoy the catharsis over and over again. The stage of the Keef Hartley Blues Band, who enthuses the audience with funky rock with brass, is also worth seeing. Before the precious live take of Sinnin' For You, you can see Keef's powerful drum solo. It is also valuable to see the live performance of Retaliation, a rare solo band of Aynsley Dunbar, who is famous as the drummer for Frank Zappa, Jefferson Starship, Whitesnake, Journey, etc. Not only the young (really young!) Aynsley's rock star-like drumming, but also the live take of the "moving" Retaliation will be irresistible to British rock fans. The fact that Keef Hartley and Aynsley Dunbar were the leaders of this blues band is unique to this period, and it gives you a sense of the era. The last performance is by Pink Floyd, and you can enjoy the mysterious performance of this period for 21 minutes in a clear image quality that would be no problem if it was included in the official video as it is. The songs are Careful With That Axe, Eugene and A Saucerful Of Secrets. The intense video, which seems to condense the core of Floyd, is so intense that it is no exaggeration to say that it is a must-see for all rock fans. Roger's scream in Eugene, the continuous beating of the gong in Saucerful Of Secrets, and Gilmour's guitar on the floor making a strong sound - everyone is knocked out by the continuous images that make them stare silently. Many of the video titles for this kind of compilation are ones that make you think "I only need to watch it once," but this title is in a class of its own.
