A precious video of "Madarao Jazz" in which B.B. King also participated will be released. The Madarao Jazz Festival began in 1982 as a celebration of the American music festival "NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL", but this work contains the third event in August 1984. Not only B.B. King, but also other distinguished jazzmen participated, and this video work is a whole package of the era when the festival gained momentum as a pioneer of jazz festivals in Japan. This work containing "Madarao Jazz '84" is a valuable recording of a TV special that was broadcast at the time. It was created from a master that was treasured by a core music recording enthusiast, and its freshness is amazing. It seems that no dubbing was done at all, so the beauty of the video is definitely original. There is no tape twist or distortion, and not even a single white line noise, making it in excellent condition. The master flows out with the "smell of 1984" that exudes a summer resort atmosphere and authentic jazz. The show is structured around performance scenes, with interviews with the musicians, but the highlight is the performance. Five groups performed that year, and one song from each group is shown in this program. The lineup includes fusion musician SPYRO GYRA, modern vibraphone innovator Gary Burton, crutch great Arnette Cobb and Texas Tenors led by Illinois Jacquet, founder of the broad tenor, and the special Madarao All Stars, featuring Freddie Hubbard, Richie Cole, and Michel Petrucciani. And then there's B.B. King. Their passionate performances are just as strong as the Madarao Festival, which is gaining momentum. Organizer George Wayne says, "Madarao is cool and nice," but the sight of the half-naked audience gazing at it is like midsummer with dazzling sunlight, and the hot air seems to be blowing out of the speakers. More than the performances, it's the commercials in between that really bring the "smell of 1984." The first commercial that jumps out at you is a ski resort commercial that only JR SKI SKI does nowadays (the Madarao Kogen ski resort is actually a ski resort), with the tagline "You will surely fulfill the white promises you made in summer." Not only is it spectacular to fly from a midsummer performance scene to a snowy landscape, but it is also the height of skiing as a date resort, so much so that advertising for six months in advance is possible. The scent of the time when skiing was so loud is in the air. Even more straightforward is the commercial for Beta Video, which features a female talent who looks good on a balcony on the beach. The line "Add a high-fidelity processor and it quickly turns into stereo video" makes you think "Isn't it stereo?", and S-chan says shyly, "I like the type that has a future." At the time, Beta was already being pushed aside by VHS, but now it has "future potential." Furthermore, the owner of Izakaya Choji and a frilled lizard advertise a car, and the tagline is "The rival is the 'liter car'." Every corner of the film hits the distant memories that had been sleeping in my brain. The year is 1984. Of course, the main focus is on the wonderful jazz and blues live performance, but the sense of the era that envelops them is also intense. The performance and the scene give off the scent of Japan on the eve of the bubble economy. This scent will never return. Madarao, Nagano, Japan August 1984 PRO-SHOT 1. CM 2.
