A super luxurious big set of "Viva, 80s!" is here. This work contains the big event "HAIR METAL HOLIDAY 2017", which is exactly what it sounds like. This is a 6-disc audience set that fully records the 6 participating bands. This event is the 3rd time this year. The first one in 2015 and the second one in 2016 were only for one day, but due to popular demand, it was expanded and held for two days this year. Both days were festival format with the same members, and this work fully records the final day, "Dallas performance on December 16, 2017". With 6 groups and 6 discs, you might think that each band would have one disc, but that's not the case. Here is a brief summary of the contents, including the participating bands: Disc 1: GRAHAM BONNET BAND, Disc 2: ENUFF Z'NUFF + DANGEROUS TOYS, Disc 3: L.A. GUNS, Disc 4: DOKKEN, Discs 5-6: ACE FREHLEY. ENUFF Z'NUFF and DANGEROUS TOYS debuted in 1989, which is a little late, but the others are all guys who made a big splash in the scene in the 1980s. Just looking at the names makes you feel dizzy with the strong 1980s smell. However, this work was recorded in 2017. As proof, the quality of this work is extremely amazing! It's like a sound board, and you can't believe your ears and ask, "Where is the audience in this!?" Extremely thick, abnormally clear details, and a super direct feeling with no sense of distance. As the festival progresses and the audience grows, you can feel the real atmosphere when waiting for the band to come on, but the announcement voice introducing the band is still much closer. Of course, as soon as the performance begins, the super-class musical tones swallow everything, and it's a whole sound board. It can only be heard directly connected to the table. Usually, no matter how line-like and clear the recording is, the snare sound gives a sense of distance. However, this work doesn't even have that. To be honest, even now when I'm writing this commentary, I can't believe that it's really an audience recording... The quality depicts an 80's paradise where each band's classic songs of the past are swamped. Let's briefly list the highlights of each band... [Disc 1: GRAHAM BONNET BAND] The first is the new GBB, which welcomes 80's neo-classical hero Joey Tafolla. Recently, "U.K. 2017" and "LONDON 2017" have been hits in succession, but the sound of this work is out of question even for that masterpiece! There were few audiences, especially since it was the first act, so there was almost no audience noise. You can enjoy neoclassical GBB with the super beautiful and powerful sound of a table-connected sound board. Of course, the best voice that is said to be "is this the heyday!?" roars, and Joey's neoclassical guitar also explodes. It's a shame that it's the first act. There are only six songs, with RAINBOW as the main act, ALCATRAZZ, IMPELLITTERI, and solo songs lined up. It's a shame because it's such a great performance among all the performers... I would love to hear a full live performance of this sound. [Disc 2: ENUFF Z'NUFF/DANGEROUS TOYS] The following disc 2 contains two groups that debuted at the same time. This disc has a strong scent of "1989". Both bands focus on their debut albums from 1989, and slam down the masterpieces that shone in the last year of the 80s. Of course, not all the songs are from their debut albums, but the songs in between are from their second albums from 1991. ENUFF Z'NUFF covers David Bowie's "The Jean Genie," but other than that, both bands have selections from their first and second albums. At this point, it's sad to see Donnie Vee absent. While DANGEROUS TOYS has almost all of its former members, Chip Z'nuff is the only one in ENUFF Z'NUFF who knows the golden age. If Donnie had been able to sing, it would have been perfect... Although this is inevitable, it's a bit disappointing. [Disc 3: L.A. GUNS] In contrast to Disc 2, Disc 3 features L.A. GUNS, who has regained their former glory! Although most of them are recent members, there is no problem if the two giants of Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns are together! The brilliance of the past, which was also heard in last year's reorganized album "THE MISSING PEACE", is wonderful. The set includes two songs from the new album and Prince's "Purple Rain", but the rest is a rush of great hits from "L.A. GUNS" to "HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES". The wild energy is outstanding among all the performers, and the atmosphere is filled with the feeling that the 80s have returned. This is one of the coolest albums in this work. [Disc 4: DOKKEN] In contrast to L.A. GUNS, DOKKEN makes you feel the length of time. Last year, they excited us with their golden age members' performance in Japan, but now they are back to Don Dokken and Mick Brown. And the guitarist here is not John Levin... but Ira Black of LIZZY BORDEN. Although the details are not known, Levin did not quit, but he will not participate in the November-December tour. Ira is participating as a substitute. Since he was originally a technician, there was no worry, but his guitar, which is not like a substitute, is amazing. He gives us a sharp edge that seems to have been possessed by George Lynch. Don, who is fighting hard as a substitute guitar, is the key to feeling the 80s far away. In recent years, the difference between good times and bad times is drastic, but this work is not very good, and he sings that beautiful melody while faking it as much as he can. Other than "Maddest Hatter" and "Too High To Fly" from the 90s, it is a rush of great songs from the past, so it makes me feel even more lonely. Graham, the first one, has now returned and is performing great songs every night, so I hope Don will do his best... [Disc 5-6: ACE FREHLEY] And the last two discs are Ace Frehley, who is the final act. The band has been active in live performances since around last year, and is doing great. The current lineup is a four-person group consisting of rhythm section members Chris Wise and Scott Coogan, who also participated in last year's ``ORIGINS, VOL. 1,'' and original FREHLEY'S COMET member Richie Scarlett. The set also includes a large number of KISS classics, as well as three songs from the 1978 album ``Rip It Out,'' ``Snow Blind,'' and ``New York Groove,'' FREHLEY'S COMET's ``Rock Soldiers,'' and ``2 Young 2 Die'' from ``TROUBLE WALKIN''. Richie is the lead vocalist on ``2 Young 2 Die'' as in the original, Scott on ``Love Gun'' and ``Detroit Rock City,'' and Chris on ``Strange Ways.'' Peter Criss has announced his retirement this year, but on the other hand, Gene Simmons will be performing solo at LOUDPARK, and Paul Stanley's SOUL STATION is scheduled to visit Japan early next year. It may be a bit difficult for Ace to come to Japan, but with this work you can enjoy the latest show with the finest quality of a soundboard. What an incredible high quality sound. A fun rush of classic songs. A nostalgic scent of the 80s. It's a big 6-disc set that comes together in a single unit. A great item to enjoy the New Year's holidays to the fullest.
