The Midnight Special is a legendary American program that left behind many treasured videos. A sequel to this hugely popular selection of masterpieces is now available! It will be released in the ultimate quality version. We have previously introduced the similarly titled THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973, and this is its sequel. The style is the same, but it is a complete sequel with not a single song overlapping. If you have experienced the previous work, you may have already made up your mind, but for those who have not, let's introduce it from the beginning. "The Midnight Special" was truly a legendary music program. It was a late-night program that aired on NBC from August 1972 to March 1981, and aired treasured videos of stars from the 70s. Combined with the unique content of the program, the archived videos are still considered treasures today, making it a masterpiece of music variety. We have introduced many of these archive works at our store. This show is also characterized by the fact that musicians themselves host the show, and in addition to the Olivia Newton-John episode "Uxbridge 2307," which was also released as a regular release, the gift titles also include PROCOL HARUM episodes, THE KINKS episodes, Steve Miller episodes, and SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE episodes, and have been well-received for their diverse lineup. This work and the previous work "THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973" are archives of such legendary programs, but they are a little different from usual. While the other works are archives of one broadcast, the "THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973" series is a special edition in which the program official selected and reconstructed the best scenes from season 1/2. Therefore, unlike usual, this work does not have a specific host and has a wider range of genres. The order of recording is random, but here we will introduce them in chronological order. August 1972: Pilot episode (2 songs) "The Midnight Special" was a weekly music program that officially started in February 1973. However, the pilot episode was broadcast only once in a special program slot prior to the regular broadcast. This work includes John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and Harry Chapin's "Taxi" from that special episode. In other episodes, there are appearances to promote new songs, but since this is a pilot episode to get the program on track, many of the songs that were already famous were selected. In particular, "Take Me Home, Country Roads," which is famous in Japan for its numerous covers, was a song that was released a year and a half before the broadcast. February-March 1973 (6 songs) This work contains 15 performances, but this period is particularly crowded. Six songs that were broadcast about two months after the second broadcast, which was also the first regular broadcast, are selected. The genres are wide, and various artists such as soul/R&B Curtis Mayfield (2nd) and THE SPINNERS (3rd), blues rock RARE EARTH (2nd), and folk Eric Weisberg & DELIVERANCE (9th) will be performing seasonal live shows. Especially popular is Steely Dan. The previous work "THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973" selected "Reelin' In The Years", but this work includes "Do It Again" from the 3rd episode broadcast on February 10th. June-September 1973 (2 songs) This work does not have any selections from the April-May period, and the next one is the June-July period, which is a little later. This is the first season. It includes "Brother Louie" by STORIES, which was number one on the pop chart, and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by Joan Baez. Baez was in the "WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MY SON?" era, but here she chose a representative song that is unrelated to the new album. September-December 1973 (5 songs) The last 5 songs were broadcast from autumn to the end of the year. The program moved to the second season from mid-September 1973, and these are the 3rd to 13th episodes. The previous work "THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973" also included footage from 1974, but this work only goes up to 1973. At this time, the artists were divided into those who were selling and those who were veterans, and the former can enjoy dazzling performances with a real-time feeling that is just the latest, such as "Diamond Girl" by Seals & Crofts, whose album reached No. 4 in the US, "The Midnight Train To Georgia" by Gladys Knight & The Pips, which was released three days before "IMAGINATION", and "Personality Crisis" by New York Dolls, which was only three months after their debut. On the other hand, classics include Jerry Lee Lewis' "Chantilly Lace" and Todd Rundgren's "Hello, It's Me". Todd's glam piano accompaniment is the biggest highlight of this work. This is a collection of 15 treasured videos. This is the sequel to the popular masterpiece collection "THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL 1973" in the series. This is a masterpiece that carries "1973" with even richer and wider performances. A legendary music program has been released. This is an official masterpiece collection, and you can enjoy plenty of keynote performances by a luxurious cast including STEELY DAN, Todd Rundgren, NEW YORK DOLLS, Jerry Lee Lewis, and John Denver.
