Shock! A soundboard from the 70's in Japan has appeared. The excavated soundboard of early VAN HALEN is very popular. The British tour trilogy "DEFINITIVE HAMMERSMITH 1978", "DEFINITIVE MANCHESTER 1978", "DEFINITIVE IPSWICH 1978", and the superb soundboards "WICHITA 1978" and "TUCSON 1979" are in the midst of shaking up the shock immediately after their debut. However, they are all overseas performances. This work is a stereo soundboard recording of the Japanese performance that has finally appeared. It is a live album of the performance "September 11, 1979: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium" from the second Japan tour accompanying "Legendary Bomber". First of all, let's check the show position from the tour schedule at that time.・September 3: Kyoto Kaikan・September 5: Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium・September 7: Nagoya City Public Hall・September 8: Kurashiki Civic Hall・September 10: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium・September 11: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium 【This work】・September 13: Nippon Budokan A total of 7 performances. The Osaka performance of this work was the 6th performance at the end of the work. After this, Dave & VAN HALEN's activities became biased towards North America, and they returned to Japan 34 years later in 2013. It is the early 70s, but it is also the brilliance of the final version of the golden age VH left in Japan. The quality of this work, which recorded such a show, is a super realistic stereo sound board. It is a recording that was recently excavated, but it is not a well-organized sound like an official work, but a direct-connected system with a sense of excavation. Of course, that is not a drawback but a beauty. The bare performance sound with zero sense of space comes in like a bullet. Michael's bass is engraved with even a little grease, Alex's drums run around in a cramped space inside my brain, and the vocals are immersive as if my head was a microphone. Of course, the guitar is also super realistic, as if the cable is directly connected to my ears. It is a super-class sound board that you can feel the enthusiasm of the audience even if you listen carefully with headphones. A slightly interesting scene that is only possible with such a class sound board is "You're No Good". The bass solo just before creates a tremendous chaos and a sense of space, and then it avalanches into the song. Now, let's start singing! But the vocals don't come in. When I see Dave's voice being heard far away, it seems that the engineer at the mix desk failed to turn on the vocal switch. After that, it suddenly comes in. Of course, it's just a mistake scene, but even that is rough and real. It's a sound that you can touch with your bare hands in the reality of 1979. Although maniacs all over the world are in an uproar over this super-class excavation, there were some points of concern about the original sound. Scratch-like noise was scattered and the pitch was unstable. In particular, the latter half of the show was out of sync by about half a tone. Therefore, this work was meticulously mastered and completely treated. Of course, the taste of the super-class sound board was not touched at all, and the noise was removed as much as possible and the pitch was accurately finished. The show that roars with such a sound is also amazing. Cool! Just when you think that it doesn't seem like a Japanese performance because the audience's presence is thin, the scream of "Hello Osaka! Come again, VAN HALEN!!" roars from the beginning. Then, without a break, "Light Up The Sky" explodes... After that, there are many repertoires unique to 1979 such as "Atomic Punk", "You're No Good" and "Outta Love Again". The superb set, which combines the two great masterpieces "Fire Fuse" and "Legendary Bomber", unfolds like a raging fire. The concentration of the flame radiation may be half a step behind the legendary first visit to Japan, but the repertoire is colorful and varied, and the confidence of conquering the whole world makes the band's scale many times bigger. It's a shame that it ends with the second half of "Atomic Punk", but the superb sound board is so good that you forget about it. This is a superb live album where Dave's "Oozakka!" roars everywhere, and Live in Japan explodes in your brain. The best and largest cultural heritage they left in Japan during their golden age.
