In 1986, VAN HALEN took on a big challenge with the ``5150,'' which drastically changed its direction, and achieved further success. A masterpiece video that allows you to experience the full show at its finest has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at “Detroit Performance on May 10, 1986.” This is the spectacular audience shot. Speaking of the “5150 TOUR” with Sammy Hagar, the official video “LIVE WITHOUT A NET” is most famous. In addition to that, let's first check the show's position from the overall picture of the tour. [“5150” released on March 24th]・March 27th – May 31st: North America #1 (47 performances) ←★Coco★・June 28th – September 1st: North America #2 (40 performances) ←※Official LIVE WITHOUT A NET ・September 5th: MTV VIDEO AWARDS ・September 27th - November 3rd: North America #3 (24 performances) This is VAN HALEN in 1986. ``LIVE WITHOUT A NET'' is in the middle of a schedule that covers only North America three times. On the other hand, the Detroit performance of this work is the 32nd performance of “North America #1” at the beginning. Performances were held for three consecutive days in Detroit, and this work was the stage on the middle day. This work recorded at such a show is truly a spectacular view. I'm looking down diagonally from the stand seat on the right side of the stage (Eddie's side), but perhaps because I was in the front row of the second floor seats, or because the stand seat is steeply sloped, I can't see anything blocking my view. Only the stage occupies the field of view, allowing you to witness the full show with the immersive feeling of "just VAN HALEN and yourself." Furthermore, the camera work is amazing. Anyway, zooming in/out is quick and the stability is outstanding. Eddie and Sammy are running around the stage, but the point is not to zoom in on them...and not chase them. Zoom out (very fast) to get a full view, then take aim and zoom in (very fast). This technique is very effective. With the equipment of the time, which did not have anti-shake features, a common mistake was to shake the camera while still zooming, resulting in blur. However, because this film repeats ``pull back → approach'', you can capture the highlights while maintaining a sense of stability with almost no camera shake. What's more, you can see the entire stage (without even having to be conscious of it), so you won't get bored, and the active changes in visibility suit the dynamism of hard rock. Even though it uses only one camera, it achieves a spectacular experience comparable to that of multiple cameras. What is depicted in such an active video is a valuable full show of the great number "5150". As mentioned above, "LIVE WITHOUT A NET" is a symbol, so let's organize it while comparing. 5150 (7 songs)・Summer Nights/Get Up/Why Can't This Be Love/5150/Best of Both Worlds/Love Walks In/Good Enough (★) Others (9 songs)・Dave era: You Really Got Me ( ★) / Panama / Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love / Jump (★) ・Sammy's songs: There's Only One Way to Rock / I Can't Drive 55 / Rock Candy (★) ・Cover: Wild Thing (★ : THE TROGGS) / Rock 'N' Roll (LED ZEPPELIN) *Note: Songs marked with a "★" are not seen even in the official video "LIVE WITHOUT A NET". ...and it looks like this. A full-scale show that instantly compensates for the lack of volume, which was the single biggest drawback of "LIVE WITHOUT A NET." Seven out of the nine songs of "5150" were fully performed (the super famous song "Dreams" is not included, but you can see this in other tour videos...), including the standard cover "Wild Thing" and MONTROSE's " You can even enjoy "Rock Candy." The set could be described as ``5150 seen with your eyes,'' and the mood was glorious, making you feel like you were winning a bet. This is a masterpiece video that allows you to fully experience the “5150 TOUR” from the special seats. Live at Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI. USA 10th May 1986 AMAZING SHOT!!! Disc 1(62:00) 1.
