From the 1986 "5150" tour of VAN HALEN, which was reborn with Sammy Hagar, the "Rosemont Horizon" performance in Chicago, Illinois on April 22nd was performed using the original cassette master provided by overseas tapers. It is made into a sound disc with sound quality audience source! This sound source, like Dave Lee Roth's "EAT 'EM AND SMILE IN CHICAGO", was recorded by a famous Chicago taper. With a recording with excellent realism, you can enjoy comparing the two live performances from the same year and at the same venue! After the end of the tour accompanying the historical masterpiece "1984", VAN HALEN parted ways with Dave Lee Roth in July 1985, and stood at the biggest crossroads in the band's history up to that point. At the band's request, Sammy Hagar, who had previously been successful as a solo singer in MONTROSE, participated in the session at the band's request. Sammy was initially reluctant to join the band, but when they actually had a session with VAN HALEN, they immediately hit it off. Decide to join a band. The band, which welcomed Sammy and renewed its structure, announced "5150" in March 1986. Although it is different from Dave's ``1984,'' it presents the music of none other than VAN HALEN in its best form, and loudly proclaims a new era for the band. During the band's US tour of the same year, which began on March 27th immediately after the release of the album, the band's performance in New Haven, Connecticut on August 27th was videotaped and released as the official live work ``LIVE WITHOUT A NET.'' Materials suitable for a new start are known. This work "5150 CHICAGO" is a must-listen for fans who can relive the Chicago performance on April 22nd on that special tour with excellent sound from the audience seat side! In addition to the aforementioned Dave Lee Roth's "EAT 'EM AND SMILE IN CHICAGO," Chicago's famous taper recordings include many other definitive recordings such as IRON MAIDEN's "SLAVERY MASTER" and METALLICA's "THE ECSTASY OF ARAGON." The sound reproduces the live performance with great clarity and realism! From the opening song, "You Really Got Me," the performance, which surrounded the listener amidst the great excitement in the venue, was both memorable and powerful (the direct feel and balance were also ideal)! The VAN HALEN version of Sammy's solo song "Only One Way To Rock" that follows will be a great place to listen to at the beginning of the live performance. After “Summer Nights” and “Get Up,” we will focus on songs from “5150” and let Eddie enjoy the explosive play of Sammy and the band. The title song of the new album, ``5150,'' is a great listen, as is ``Why Can't This Be Love,'' which has a drum solo in between. The sound of the band during Sammy's tenure, which was more oriented towards world-wide rock than Dave's era, is already clear here. “Panama” from Michael Anthony’s bass solo is sure to knock out any listener! Less than half a year after VAN HALEN's live performance, Dave's solo band version of this song, which can be heard on ``EAT 'EM AND SMILE IN CHICAGO,'' was performed, making Chicago rock fans jealous. I'll put it away! Disc 2, which is approaching the second half of the live show, first features “Best Of Both Worlds” and “Good Enough” from “5150”. Along with Eddie's guitar solo that follows, it is a point that fans cannot miss. "I Can't Drive 55", selected from Sammy's solo again, will be one of the live highlights! The song, which has been reborn powerfully with Alex's drums and Eddie's guitar, captivates listeners with more excitement and coolness than the original song (the chorus that the fans at the venue sing is also amazing)! The excitement of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", which flows into the medley from here, is truly amazing. The call of “Eddie!” that seems to rise from the audience after the performance is a famous scene even in the original recording! For the encore, "Jump" and "Wild Thing" were played in quick succession from the band's jam session, bringing the approximately 100-minute concert to a close. Needless to say, this work is a must-listen if you are a fan of VAN HALEN or Sammy. Even if you're a VAN HALEN fan, you can't help but listen to it considering that it was performed in the same year and at the same venue as "EAT 'EM AND SMILE IN CHICAGO". Please enjoy the passionate performance of both bands that took place in Chicago in 1986 with these two titles!
