A vintage Fresno video series that shocked collectors in 2020. It's a rare video from the 1970s, the dawn of audience shots, and a series that's been highly praised for its incredible quality. The VAN HALEN edition has been released on DVD in two titles. This is the second installment. It's an audience shot from the "Fresno Performance on March 25, 1979," the "Legendary Bomber" era. The biggest point of this work is the quality that exceeds the previous one, but first, let's look at the show's position. Let's take a look back at the overall picture of "WORLD VACATION TOUR 1979." March 23: "Legendary Bomber" Release; March 25–June 10: North America #1 (51 shows) ←★here★; June 14–29: Europe (12 shows); July 5–August 26: North America #2 (31 shows); September 3–13: Japan (7 shows); September 18–October 7: North America #3 (12 shows) December: "Dark Law" Production Begins This is Van Halen in 1979. They returned to Fresno just six months after their first release, "FRESNO 1978: THE VIDEO," and this was the first concert of their world tour, just three days after the release of "Legendary Bomber." This recording of that show rivals—or, frankly, surpasses—the "1978 Edition" and is mind-blowingly impressive. While the foundations of the series are explained in "FRESNO 1978: THE VIDEO," the film quality surpasses video quality, and the length of each cut exceeds conventional film shooting standards, just like the first release. But what's even more striking is the audio. While the first release also boasts an unconventional sound for a '70s audience recording, this one is even more impressive. While the previous release was incredibly clear, the tone bears the hallmarks of an audience recording, with an undeniable lightness to the snare in particular. In contrast, this release is both clear and dense. Its thick core, with no sense of distance, leaps into your ears, and even the tone lacks the feel of an audience. This is not just superior to the first release. In fact, this show has long been known for its excellent audience recordings, but this one surpasses those previously released sound sources. While those previously released live albums were powerful but lacked deep bass, the audio on this release is exquisite, with Diamond Dave's shouts unfolding and Michael's chorus sounding exquisite. Eddie's guitar work is incredibly sharp, even down to the most subtle cuts. And yet, it's overwhelmingly natural. It's not like the sound pressure has been increased by equalization, nor has the edge been emphasized. It's sharp and sharp, yet it doesn't pierce your ears or distort the peaks. It's a vividness that's solely due to the quality of the recording and the freshness of the master. The sound quality is so good that I couldn't help but talk about the sound, but the video is also amazing. What's most eye-catching is the brightness. The location is the same "Selland Arena" as the previous work, but perhaps reflecting the success of the debut, the lighting is more luxurious and brighter than the previous work. The zoom in on the scene clearly reveals the fine details, revealing Dave's swaying blonde hair and Eddie's smile. It's a visual beauty that feels like a single angle of a pro shot. A show depicted with such quality is best experienced in person, rather than explained in a hundred words. Not only did the introduction of the "Legendary Bomber" repertoire enrich the variety, but their global travels directly impacted the scale of their performance, making it incredibly dynamic. They captivated the world until 1984, completing the pinnacle of American hard rock that remains unparalleled to this day. While "FRESNO 1978: THE VIDEO," capturing the band's debut moments, was already impressive enough, this release's quality is several levels higher. With stunning visuals and superb audio, this stunning video allows you to immerse yourself in Van Halen's explosive performances for approximately 32 minutes. Those who have been captivated by the 1978 edition will be captivated by the even greater beauty, and first-time viewers will undoubtedly want "FRESNO 1978: THE VIDEO," a masterpiece undoubtedly intrigued by the release. A shocking audience shot from the "Legendary Bomber" era has been released. Though shot on film in the 1970s, the visuals are reminiscent of a professional shot, and the audio is as good as a soundboard. Experience the 1970s VH live with unparalleled quality.
