UFO's "NO PLACE TO RUN" tour in the first half of 1980 came to a close in mid-May when the US tour ended, and the band started working on their next album and preparing for their annual appearance at the Reading Festival in late August. However, just as they were about to do so, in June 1980, Paul Raymond, who supported the foundation of the band's sound with keyboards and side guitar, left the band and joined Michael Schenker's M.S.G. In this emergency, the band welcomed John Sloman, introduced by Paul Chapman, and continued working on the new album with Sloman taking over as keyboardist during July. However, since the band was looking for a player who could play not only keyboards but also side guitar and chorus on stage, Sloman only participated in the album, and Neil Carter, formerly of WILD HOSES, joined the band as Raymond's official replacement. UFO performed at the Reading Festival on August 23rd with a new lineup including Carter, and played the important role of headliner (WHITESNAKE will be the headliner on the following day, the 24th). The band finished their new album "THE WILD, THE WILLING AND THE INNOCENT" in September, and in October they started a large-scale European tour prior to the album release. The band, who showed strong enthusiasm for the new album, actively promoted it. The performance in Dortmund, Germany on November 26th, 1980, recorded in this work, was recorded as part of the live performance for the German music program "ROCKPALAST". ROCKPALAST is a treasure trove of valuable and excellent live footage, as exemplified by RAINBOW's "LIVE IN MUNICH 1977". This video is no exception, and rare professional shot footage from the Chapman era is completely recorded over 75 minutes with the best sound quality and image quality that convinces the viewer of the master quality. The clear outline and the minimal blurring make it seem like this could also be officially released! At this point, it was about two months before "THE WILD, THE WILLING AND THE INNOCENT" was released, but "Chains Chains" and "Long Gone" were already featured in the set list. It is a great pleasure for fans to be able to enjoy these famous numbers that represent UFO in the '80s in the best possible form. In particular, "Long Gone", which combines lyricism and drama, has already demonstrated its potential as a masterpiece from its earliest performances! From the middle of the show onwards, elements of the "NO PLACE TO RUN" tour remain, and you can enjoy the flow from "Cherry" to "Only You Can Rock Me", and the combination of "Love To Love" and "Mystery Train" (the new song "Making Moves" in between is also a must-listen). Although a completely different type from Michael Schenker, Paul Chapman, who plays B.C.RICH, is cool in both technique and staging. He may be a modest player, but his stage presence is quite impressive, and he stands out on screen alongside the powerful action of the wild Pete Way. Phil Mogg's bluesy singing on songs like "No Place To Run" is also full of personality, and the presence of each member is even more prominent when viewed with excellent footage like this film. Chapman's playing is also sharp on Michael's classic songs such as "Lights Out", "Doctor Doctor", and "Rock Bottom", and the band sound is definitely worth listening to. After peaking around 1980 to 1981, UFO gradually lost momentum, but at this point you can still enjoy their unique powerful performance with a superb collection of songs that combine the dampness of British music with catchy musicality aimed at the American market.
