In our weekly treat of Mike Millard's master release, this week it was The Who from 1980. Speaking of their 1980 tour, the memory of "LOS ANGELES 1980 1ST NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD ORIGINAL MASTER" is still fresh, but while that was at the LA Sports Arena on June 23rd, this time it was held at the LA Forum a day ago. In other words, the previous title referred to the first day at the sports arena. The Who's schedule when they visited LA on their 1980 American tour was a little different. The plan was to first perform two times at the Forum, then one day later to perform five times at the Sports Arena, which is larger than the Forum. In other words, this sound source is the first day of the entire LA performance of Fu in 80 years. Of course, the sound quality this time is also great. However, it is not as excellent a recording state as "LOS ANGELES 1980 1ST NIGHT", and John Entwistle's bass is pushed a little further back. However, his bass has a tendency to be too aggressive at times, so listening to the balance this time around, you won't find it as strange as you might think. Overall, it is attractive that Roger Daltrey's voice stands out, and the sound of firecrackers sounded twice from the audience seats in "Won't Get Fooled Again" is also vivid. However, Millard was late for the live performance, and the first four songs from "I Can't Explain" to "Sister Disco" were not recorded. Speaking of him being late for a live concert, the second day of ZEP in Long Beach is most famous, but he did it again on this day. Just by looking at the song list, you will be surprised to find that the live composition is completely different from "LOS ANGELES 1980 1ST NIGHT". However, up until now, the audience recordings on this day had been the worst, with muffled and distorted sounds that made it hard to believe they were made in 1980. Even though the first four songs were missing, this excavation was extremely meaningful. Anyway, Pete was in great shape on this day. I ignored the usual medley of "See Me, Feel Me" after "Pinball Wizard" and started "I Can See For Miles" instead, and it seemed to be quite fun. Pete, who was getting more and more excited, started the encore with “Young Man Blues”, unlike at the sports arena. This means that a high-quality sound source of the same song from the Kenny Jones era has been discovered, and the performance is surprisingly cool. The intensity, which is different from the Keith Moon era, is attractive enough, and the piano played by Rabbit, the support, fits well. “Dancing In The Street” started like a snowstorm from there. There is a strong impression that it is an R&B cover that the Who performed around the time of their debut, but it is actually a repertoire that they occasionally played during the Kenny era from 1979 to 1980. Pete then started singing ``Dance It Away,'' which he would later release on his solo album, which was a development that Pete liked at this time, but from there Pete started singing a new song that had not yet been recorded, ``Dance It Away.'' A draft of “Another Tricky Day.” As you can see from this, it was one of the most thrilling days on stage in 1980, with Pete leading the band, and thanks to Millard, we were finally able to enjoy it with good sound quality. is. This is a great performance that I would recommend even to those who hate the Kenny era! Live at The Forum, Inglewood, CA, USA 20th June 1980 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (58:44) 1. Behind Blue Eyes 2.
