The classic "Double Exposure," featuring studio demos from 1974 and 1975, has been polished up with pitch correction and other adjustments! It also includes newly unearthed live recordings! The demos were recorded at New York's Good Vibrations Studio in 1974, when Richard Hell was still a member of the band, and were produced by Brian Eno and Richard Williams of Island Records. The August 1975 recording session, recorded by Terry Ork of Ork Records after Fred Smith joined the band (their first single, "Little Johnny Jewel," was recorded using material from this session). An Italian collector's edition of "Double Exposure" was released in 1992. The 1974 recordings were also included on the vinyl bootlegs "Television with Bryan Eno" and "Fairland," and copies of these recordings are still in circulation today. However, all of these recordings suffer from pitch and stereo offset issues. This release features no unnecessary equalization, meticulously correcting for pitch and stereo positioning discrepancies, and refining the sound image of the original tapes to the best possible quality. It also includes three stereo soundboard recordings from the 1975 CBGB concert previously featured on the CD "Double Exposure," as well as a recently discovered live performance from the March 1975 CBGB concert. Recorded as a stereo audience recording (almost mono to the ear), the sound image is slightly boosted and not exactly high quality, but each part, including the vocals, is well-balanced and reasonably well-recorded. Pitch discrepancies inherent in the master recording have also been carefully corrected. While "Breakin' In My Heart," recorded in Cleveland on July 25, 1975, previously featured on the CD, is not included on this release, it can be heard in clearer quality on the label's previously released "Complete 'Piccadilly Inn 1975' Tapes." While the tracks that would later appear on their debut album, "Marquee Moon," were all early versions, the 1975 demo features arrangements and sounds closer to the final version, and includes rare tracks such as "Double Exposure," "Hard On Love," and a cover of the 13th Floor Levers' "Fire Engine." This is a must-listen for all fans. 01. Prove It 02. Friction 03. Venus 04. Double Exposure 05. Marquee Moon <1974 Demos / Good Vibrations Studio, New York> 06. Hard On Love 07. Friction 08.
