The "REMAIN IN LIGHT TOUR 1980-1981" was a nine-year big band with the addition of four black members and Adrian Belew. The release of the classic pro shot has been decided. This work was shot at the "December 17, 1980 Rome performance". This is the best multi-camera pro shot. This tour also featured a performance in Japan, and this week the ultimate soundboard album "TOKYO 1981 2ND NIGHT (Zion-116)" was released. First of all, let's check the position from the entire world tour, including the Japanese performance. [1980] August 23rd + 27th: North America #1 (2 shows) "REMAIN IN LIGHT" released on October 8th October 17th - November 22nd: North America #2 (29 shows) December 1st - 20th: Europe (17 shows) ←★Here★ [1981] February 23rd - 28th: Japan (6 shows) This is the whole picture of the "REMAIN IN LIGHT TOUR". Although there are some ambiguities in the records at the time, the performance in Rome of this work is the (probably) 15th concert of the "European" leg. Although it was about two months before the performance in Japan, as mentioned above, it was also just before the show. In other words, this work is also the best one as a video version of the super masterpiece sound board "TOKYO 1981 2ND NIGHT". This work, which contains such a show, is a truly magnificent professional shot. The image quality has an analog feel, but it creates a rich film feel, and is as beautiful as a documentary film. Of course, the sound board is also clear and unclouded. And the camerawork also gives off the scent of the time. The simple screen from an era when lighting was not yet developed, the audience seats projected in a blur over the members, the cuts that emphasized the "face" rather than the hands (except for Belew), and the old-fashioned screen split production... All of this is different from the current sense, and it is strangely mysterious. The beauty of the white Tina Weymouth that emerges against the jet black background... The quality depicts the essence of the "REMAIN IN LIGHT TOUR", which has been upgraded to a large group. At the time, there were pros and cons about the increase in members by more than double, but the ensemble that introduced the African funk rhythm is diverse and colorful. It depicts a sense of scale that is different from simply adding up. Among them, Adrian Belew has a presence that is comparable to the main character David Byrne. His phantasmagoric phrases are more than those of Bowie or KING CRIMSON. He dances with his sensibility on top of the eight-person percussive band. And "I Zimbra" is a symbol of such an ensemble. You can enjoy the revolutionary number that was cut from the FM broadcast of the Japanese performance with a soundboard and pro shot... Furthermore, it is a treasure video that allows you to enjoy "Houses in Motion" and "Born Under Punches", which are not available on FM broadcasts in Japan. TALKING HEADS teamed up with Brian Eno and continued to open up the horizons of new wave. What flows out of this work is a view that can be said to be its final destination. A masterpiece that allows you to enjoy such a full show with the finest multi-camera pro shots. This is a masterpiece that not only their fans, but also Bowie and KING CRIMSON fans should enjoy.
