This is amazing...or should I say, it's funny! A rare "treasure" multi-camera video that captured STRYPER right after their debut has been decided to be released. This work was recorded at the "Downey performance on September 24, 1984". Although this work is a live video, it is a little different from the ordinary in every way. First of all, the quality, which could be called "semi-professional shot", is not ordinary. You may think "What is it?", but in fact, it is a video work that the band shot with two cameras and mixed and edited. Therefore, it is completely different from the "multi-camera audience" that is out there. The two cameras are "the back seats in front of the stage" and "looking up from the lower left of the stage". Both of these are superb. Since it is filmed by staff, the field of view is excellent without being blocked by the arms and heads of fans, and the stability that only a camera set up can provide. Moreover, it is not just a fixed angle, but moves freely and shows various perspectives. If you zoom in, you can see the fingertips and facial expressions up close, and the actions of the members who are conscious of being filmed cannot be "hidden recordings". It is truly a "pro shot" visual beauty. However, even though it is a "pro shot", it is a little different from the so-called "pro shot". There are two reasons for this. One is the sound from the microphone installed on the camera. Of course, since it is a staff recording, it is the best as an audience recording, but it does not have the vivid feeling unique to the line. The other is the "handmade feeling" that exudes from the entire work. To understand this, let's take a look at the show's position from the activity overview at that time. [1984] February 1st - July 19th: North America #1 (32 performances) "THE YELLOW AND BLACK ATTACK" released on July 21st July 27th - October 13th: North America #2 (11 performances) ←★Here★ November 9th - December 28th: North America #3 (4 performances) [1985] January 4th - March 15th: North America #4 (9 performances) April 12th - 27th: North America #5 (10 performances) "SOLDIERS UNDER COMMAND" released on May 15th This is the flow from debut to the 1st album "SOLDIERS UNDER COMMAND". The Downey performance of this work contains STRYPER, who was released shortly after the debut EP "THE YELLOW AND BLACK ATTACK". The "handmade feel" of this work is a very early mood. The site, Calvary Chapel Church, is a small community center-like space that doesn't have the atmosphere of a concert venue, and the cut switching and video overlay look handmade. Although the performance is as expected, the mood of "passion but no equipment" that has just started is fragrant from every corner. And the most important thing is the show, which is not ordinary. The live itself is a show unique to the very early days, based on the repertoire of "THE YELLOW AND BLACK ATTACK" and "SOLDIERS UNDER COMMAND", and they also performed rare songs such as "Roxx Regime" and "Rock Me", which are the names of the predecessor band. Another must-see is "Pastor Speech", or rather, the biggest highlight. A priest appears and starts preaching. This is quite hot. With gestures and hands through the microphone, he passionately speaks about heavy metal, God's message, and STRYPER with foam at the mouth. Speaking of his passionate narration, it is really (strangely?) heavy metallic. What's more, it's amazing because it doesn't stand out. The early 80s was a time when TV evangelists were all the rage, and this was a church. The audience cheered loudly and got really excited. It's definitely (I don't know if I can say this) entertainment. It's a real treasure. It's a church show with a great quality that can only be achieved by the band's own records, but it's full of intimacy right after their debut. It's a video work that could only have been possible in the very early days, because it was STRYPER. I've dealt with countless rock videos, but I don't remember a single one that is as high quality and unique as this. It's a rare gem that I would like all STRYPER fans, as well as all those who love "rock records", to experience. Live at Calvary Chapel, Downey, CA. USA 24th September 1984 PRO-SHOT 1. Intro 2.
