Stevie Wonder's TV compilation DVD is here. It covers a wide range of famous footage from his early career to the 1980s, and I'm especially happy that they've taken the initiative in recording footage that was broadcast in Japan. First of all, the Ed Sullivan Show has Japanese subtitles and commentary in Japanese, and the footage is clear. Sesame Street, with a young Ray Parker Jr. on guitar, has a super funky "Sesame Street Theme" sung on a talk box. "Superstition," introduced as "Superstition" and with lyrics translated into Japanese, starts with a relaxed groove, then changes to "Maybe Your Baby" performance with Stevie's cry of "Mayby your baby," and after a while it returns to "Superstition" with a thrilling development that is the best. Then, Stevie joins the Rolling Stones performance and he takes the lead role in "Uptight," which Ray Parker cuts at his best. And "Satisfaction" is a duet between Mick Jagger and Stevie, creating a party-like stage. Soul Train begins with Don Cornelius introducing it as the 8th Wonder (not the 7th Wonder of the World), and the interview is translated into Japanese, so you can understand Stevie's wonderful words such as "It's better to be religious than superstitious." And "Soul Train," which he wrote while waiting for his turn, has no Japanese lyrics, so I will briefly write them here. "Soul Train, with Don Cornelius, brothers, sisters, where everyone gathers, the best women, soul train dancers, free your mind, it's not good to be superstitious!". Media Sound Session, which is impressive for Ollie E. Brown's drumming while playing the flute, plays precious songs from this period in the studio. Moreover, the unreleased song "Fine Young Thing" is the strongest gospel funk with Wonderlove's chorus. Ralph Hammer's tarnished silver guitar is also brilliant. "Superstition," in which Stevie's keyboard phrases change, features Steve Madaio's neighing trumpet and Scott Edwards' bass, which are groovy, but the closing is particularly groundbreaking. The Grammy Awards performance of "Nightmare," in which Stevie rages with a powerful sound, saying, "You guys never do anything after all," is also good, but when Stevie surprises Ella Fitgerald with a jazz cover of "A Tisket, A Tasket," even though he was supposed to perform "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" in front of her, it gives you goosebumps. "Master Blaster," which means "Rasta expert and master," has been a hot topic since July. At the American Music Awards 1982, super famous artists gave words and songs to Stevie, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and I'm glad that they were translated into Japanese. Please watch the video to see who is there. Stevie is so moved he's crying...He responds to them with "Sir Duke" and says, "Music is a world where everyone can understand the language," and sings the ultimate love song "That Girl," which topped the R&B charts for nine consecutive weeks, and ends with "Superstition." At the 1984 and 1985 American Music Awards, the original "I love you" from Bread & Butter's "It's a special feeling," is good, but Stevie's "I just call to say I love you" from "It's not special," also has wonderful lyrics, and the following year, he plays the opposite song, "Part Time Lover," about a married couple's double infidelity.
