After the Spencer Davis Group and Traffic, he finally released his first solo album in 1977. His first solo live performance was at the Rough Hill Festival held in the UK on August 19, 1978, and the performance is recorded in full from the stereo soundboard sound source from the BBC on-air master. First, from his first solo, Steve Winwood, which was a long-awaited solo debut, comes the beautifully melody ballad "Midland Maniac", followed by "Hold On", which features a synth solo similar to the album, and the fine ballad "Let Me Make Something In Your Life", which closes the album. In addition, five of the six songs on the album are performed, including "Vacant Chair", which has a wonderful melody development, and "Time Is Running Out", which is full of funk groove. Not only are the live performances from this period valuable, but it is also very rare to hear only these songs performed live from this album, which is said to be a masterpiece. Of course, the album also includes songs from the Spencer Davis Group and Traffic eras, and closes with "Hound Dog," making this a truly blue-eyed soul live performance of the highest quality.
