They emerged from the Cisco scene in the 60s and had a string of No. 1 hits in the 70s. Here is their earliest precious live performance, in official quality and with soundboard, from Bill Graham's Wolfgang's Vault. This is a complete recording of two performances on one day at the Matrix in San Francisco on January 27, 1967, when they were still calling themselves a blues band. It is a historic live recording that is the oldest live recording in existence, including a long blues-based jam session that is unique to their early days. This is a must-listen live performance from the early days of the band, which was active at the center of the psychedelic movement in the Cisco Bay Area and also had Boz Scaggs in its ranks.
