Steve Hackett overcame the COVID-19 pandemic to perform in Japan for the first time in four years. An original recording of the latest live performance based on the theme of GENESIS' masterpieces "Moonlight Knight" and "Dazzling Super Live" has been decided to be released urgently. This work is recorded at the "Club Citta Kawasaki" performance on July 8, 2022. This is a very thick audience recording. This visit to Japan is only three performances in Kawasaki, and this work is a live album that vacuum-packs the whole story of the first day. It is a great feeling to be able to introduce the latest visit to Japan in this way, but the sound of this work enhances that feeling even more. It is an original recording given to me by the recorder himself, and it is also wonderful. While it is filled with the beauty of an audience that has absorbed the hall sound, the density and the fineness of the details are far from the customer record. The secret to not hiding the details even if the sound is thick is that the core is incredibly thick and has a rushing force. The core, which boasts a rich response even to the deep bass, breaks through the air and reaches straight to the ears. Particularly wonderful are the vivid mid-high tones. While the deep bass such as the bass drum and bass are somewhat powerful, the mid-high tones of the vocals, snare, keyboard, etc. are full of a soundboard-like zero distance feeling, and even the subtleties of the subtleties are clear. This contrast also gives Hackett's first-class symphonic rock a powerful dynamism. Such a dynamic sound depicts the latest full show, which is a hot topic for reproducing GENESIS masterpieces. Before coming to Japan, Hackett had a re-enactment tour of "Dazzling Super Live", but this time in Japan, the re-enactment of "Moonlight Knight" was also advertised. Of course, "Dazzling Super Live" also includes the "Moonlight Knight" number, so it is impossible to completely reproduce the two works at the same time... It was a bit of a mystery how the show would be composed. Here, let's analyze the set that will answer that question. Part 1 (DISC 1) Dazzling Super Live (side A): Squonk / The Carpet Crawlers / Robbery, Assault Battery / Afterglow Dazzling Super Live (sides B/C): The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway / The Musical Box / Supper's Ready Part 2 (DISC 2) Moonlight Knight (all songs) Encore (DISC 3) Dazzling Super Live (side D): Dance on a Volcano / Los Endos (incl. Slogans) ... and so on. Hackett's solo songs are almost GENESIS heaven, with only a brief glimpse of "Los Endos" played at the very end. The show is "two parts + encore", and this work is a three-disc set with one disc for each part. The second part is a complete reproduction of "Moonlight Knight", and even the song order is played exactly the same. And the "Dazzling Super Live" numbers are distributed before and after it. While the "Moonlight Knight" number has been omitted, the order of the songs is the same as the album. As a result, the A side of "Dazzling Super Live" is a perfect reproduction, while the B, C, and D sides are reproduced with missing teeth. It may seem half-baked when written like this, but when you actually listen to it, the flow is perfect. The show starts in the same way as the dramatic opening of "Dazzling Super Live", and while you are immersed in the world of the famous live album, you are surprised by the fact that the "Moonlight Knight" number has been removed in the B side part. And then, at last, the perfect reproduction of "Moonlight Knight"! If the whole live is reproduced as an album, it becomes too predictable and boring, but the "flow of the great album" and "a little curveball" are just the right hook to push through the full show. Currently, in Japan, there is a rush of announcements of Japan visits that seem to have broken the dam, while there are also rumors of the seventh wave of the new coronavirus. As the situation becomes unclear again, Steve Hackett's visit to Japan was a success for the time being. This work is the first of the original recordings that depict the whole story with a thick and neat sound. Hackett brought the bliss of progressive rock to Japan in 2022 with the masterpieces of GENESIS. A thick audience recording of the performance of "July 8, 2022: Club Citta Kawasaki". An original recording handed over by the recordist himself, it is a masterpiece with a density and fine detail that is different from the customer record. The core is extremely thick and has a rushing force, and the core boasts a rich response to the deep bass, which breaks through the air and reaches straight to the ears. The show is full of GENESIS, building a "dazzling super live" world in the first part and encore, while the second part in the middle reproduces "Knight of the Moonlight". This is the first report of the revival of the visit to Japan after overcoming the COVID-19 disaster.
