Featuring a truly exceptional lineup of studio musicians, known for their exceptional A-level talent and long history behind the scenes in the music industry, including Steve Gadd, Michael Brecker, Don Grolnick, Eddie Gomez, and their leader, Mike Mainieri, Steps is a serious new musical venture! This definitive, updated version of the legendary Roppongi Pit Inn, recorded on a different day from the official release, is here! Their first album was the classic "Smokin' in the Pit," recorded live at the now-defunct Roppongi Pit Inn in December 1979. This release features a rare, nearly two-and-a-half-hour live performance, featuring 12 tracks from a different day than the official "Smokin' in the Pit" album, including "Kyoto," "Bullet Train," and "Six Persimmons," all of which were recorded in a Japanese studio around the same time and not included on the official "Smokin' in the Pit" album. Plus, "I'm Sorry" and "Stella By Starlight," two tracks also unavailable on the official release. This dreamlike release features a complete recording of the band's live performance, spanning 12 tracks and nearly two and a half hours. The latest mastering technology, exclusive to the label, delivers the ultimate sound quality, making it feel like you're in the front row of the venue! From Michael's tenor to Mike's vibes, Don's electric piano, Gomez's bass, Gadd's raging drumming, and the guest guitarists' incredible guitar work, everything is psycho, exciting, and beyond words. This is a guaranteed guarantee! You can't talk about jazz/fusion without listening to this!
