SLY & THE FAMILY STONE in 1970, in the midst of their musical and commercial golden age, fueled by the smash hit "STAND!". This is the ultimate video, symbolic of that era. This work features a multi-camera professional shot of their "September 13, 1970 London performance." The "STAND!" era was a peak period, marking the band's legendary Woodstock appearance and the astronomical success of "GREATEST HITS." Let's start by taking a bird's-eye view of their activities and confirming this work's position. 1969: January 10th + 17th: North America (2 shows), March 23rd - May 24th: North America #1a (27 shows) ("STAND!" released in May), June 7th - December 28th: North America #1b (58 shows) (Official WOODSTOCK). 1970: January 9th - April 3rd: North America #1c (10 shows), May 1st - August 21st: North America #2 (19 shows), August 29th - September 20th: Europe (11 shows) (Click here). October 3rd - December 31st: North America #3 (21 shows) ("GREATEST HITS" released on November 21st). This is SLY & THE FAMILY STONE in 1969/1970. Most of the tour was in North America, but a short "European" tour was realized in the summer of 1970. This London performance was the sixth concert. This show was also a special performance for the public broadcaster WDR's (West German Broadcasting) signature program "Rockpalast," broadcast in the program's "Swing In" segment. The footage, along with Woodstock, has reigned as a symbol of the "STAND!" era. This work is its pinnacle edition. After all, it was only recently released on the official Rockpalast channel, and the station master itself has been digitally distributed with zero degradation. In fact, the visual beauty is the highest ever, completely official—or should I say, film-quality. The high definition is so high that you can even feel the grain of the film, and the vividness is as it was at the time, with no dubbing marks or even the slightest fading. The ultra-natural colors, with no trace of digital processing, and the cinematography, which ignores the mood of the venue and keeps close-ups of faces spilling out of the screen, make this a style that I would call a "documentary film" rather than a live, pro-shot. This stunning visual portrayal captures the scorching performance of a band that reigned supreme as the darling of the era. While the 30-minute broadcast is far from a full show, it nonetheless condenses the band's repertoire from their heyday. Let's take a look at that set here. It includes: "Stand!" (4 songs), "Sing A Simple Song," "Stand!," "Everyday People," "I Want To Take You Higher," "Others" (3 songs), "Dance To The Music," "Music Lover," and "Life: M'Lady." This is a superb compilation of iconic tracks from the band's golden age, rather than just rare gems. All of the songs were also performed at Woodstock, creating a truly intense show that condenses and crystallizes that legendary stage. This is the highest quality version of the most historic footage. This is it. The ultimate DVD, perfectly transcribed from the broadcast master's visuals without degradation. It's an absolute cultural heritage, with value equal to or even surpassing the legendary "STAND!" album. This multi-camera pro-shot recording of the September 13, 1970 London concert is the latest digital release from the official channel of the iconic show "Swing In," released on DVD with the broadcast master itself, without any degradation. The visual beauty is cinematic. The high-definition quality is so high you can even feel the grain of the film, and with its ultra-natural colors and close-ups of faces constantly spilling out of the frame, it's more of a "documentary" style than a live pro-shot. This is an absolute film that is nothing less than a cultural heritage on a par with the legendary Woodstock. The Lyceum, London, UK, September 13, 1970 PRO-SHOT 1. My Lady 2. Sing A Simple Song 3.
