As mentioned in the commentary for "TOKYO 1979 Pre-FM Master," the SCORPIONS' 1979 Nakano Sun Plaza performance was broadcast on radio by Far East Broadcasting, but video shooting was also done on this day, and there is also professional shot footage for TV broadcast. This work "TOKYO 1979," which is a DVD version of that video made from the best material of the various masters currently confirmed, was well received by fans when it was previously released. This time, with the CD release of "TOKYO 1979 Pre-FM Master," the definitive version of this video from the same day is finally back! While "TOKYO 1979 Pre-FM Master" was a recording of just over half the show, 53 minutes, this video version is even more limited, with the live scene being recorded for about 30 minutes. Although it is not as full-length as the main feature, it boldly features four new songs from "LOVEDRIVE" - "Lovedrive", "Is There Anybody There", "Another Piece Of Meat", and "Can't Get Enough" - and starts with the classic "We'll Burn The Sky", skillfully compiling the highlights of the day, making it worth watching beyond the recording time. Unlike current digital images, it is not as "vivid in detail", but the image quality with its unique analog texture gives it a sense of the times, and it will be interesting to watch as a recorded video. The members stand firmly on the stage and listen to the performance of "We'll Burn The Sky", but the active performance of "Lovedrive" and "Another Piece Of Meat", which are played with a hot staging, is eye-catching. Klaus and Matthias, who attract attention on stage, are properly closed up at key points, and their expressions and movements can be clearly grasped. The screen effects edited and added for the broadcast may be a nuisance, but in "Is There Anybody There", the Japanese title "Reggae of Meditation" helps to create a unique world of songs. Also, it is a very big point that you can check "Kojo no Tsuki", which you could not hear even in "TOKYO 1979 Pre-FM Master", with line sound source and pro shot video! In the audience recording, there are some takes where only the audience's voices stand out, but in a pro shot like this work, you can listen to it as a good entertainment with a well-organized venue and stage. Don't miss the melodic play that Matthias spins from the middle stage onwards. In "Can't Get Enough", which livens up the show end, Klaus and Rudolf show off a wild and dynamic performance like that seen in "Super Rock '84" in 1984. The still youthful SCORPIONS show is even more attractive when enjoyed with video! Also included at the end are bonus video clips of "Make It Real" and "Don't Make No Promises" from the 1980 album "ANIMAL MAGNETISM". Both are simply composed of live studio footage, creating an atmosphere that is reminiscent of the early video era. It's unfortunate that the condition of the original master is different and it's not as easy to watch as the live version, but there's no doubt that this is a very rare material. Although the total recording time of the live and bonus is 36 minutes, the precious footage from 30 years ago, revived with the original menu, is a must-see for fans as an important subtext of "TOKYO 1979 Pre-FM Master".
