After Matthias Japs joined the band, SCORPIONS gradually changed its direction around 1980. While retaining their melodious sensibilities and hard edges, they developed a brightness and popular appeal that appealed to even more fans. For SCORPIONS, 1982 was an epoch-making year. Klaus Meine overcame his throat trouble and became a big hit in America with ``BLACKOUT,'' which can be said to be a comeback. This year is an important year in the band's history. From that special 1982 3rd Japan tour accompanying the release of "BLACKOUT", we cut out the October 3rd Tokyo Employees' Pension Hall performance (2nd day) with the highest quality sound that exceeds existing sound sources. This is the work “DEFINITIVE TOKYO BLACKOUT”. This work is a direct recording of the original cassette master by the famous taper who has surprised fans with many masterpiece recordings (he is also the taper who also worked on SCORPIONS' masterpiece "UNDERCOVER THE NIGHT"). The sound quality is nothing short of amazing and makes you think, "It's not just one rank up, but three ranks up" compared to the previously released version. The vocals of Klaus Meine, the core of the band, and the guitar sounds of Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Japs are simply wonderful. In particular, Herman Larebel's drums are recorded with a punchy and powerful tone. The clear and dynamic recording of all parts is enough to completely change the listener's impression of a live performance. Everyone will be overwhelmed by the straightforward performance unique to SCORPIONS, which reproduces a sound image with excellent separation and sharpness. At the beginning of the live performance, the opening SE will feature Gyorgy Righetti, who is well-known for the "Monolith Theme" from ``2001: A Space Odyssey,'' creating great anticipation for the upcoming live performance. And just as the excitement reaches its peak, a guitar riff that cuts through the space bursts forth! The peak begins with “Blackout”! Rudolph's cutting that seems to cut even the listener's body, and Klaus' vocals as if he had no throat trouble, are spectacular from the beginning of the live performance. Next, the speedy "Don't Make No Promises" (a rare song selection unique to this time!) is played, drawing the listener into the live without any questions or answers. Furthermore, "Loving You Sunday Morning" and "Make It Real" are representative numbers after Matthias joined, appealing to the audience a new image of SCORPIONS that is different from the Uli Jon Roth era. However, that doesn't mean that the '70s numbers that many fans have come to expect have disappeared. Even in this live performance, selections of songs from "TAKEN BY FORCE" such as "We'll Burn The Sky" and "He's A Woman, She's A Man" remain, and you can fully enjoy the hard, dramatic, and dark performances. Masu. During the following 1984 tour, these songs will be dropped from the set and will not be played for a while, so fans must listen to them. In addition to these, the set, which exquisitely blends old and new numbers, such as the heavy title song from the previous album "ANIMAL MAGNETISM" (this "Animal Magnetism" is also a rare song that is not often played), has the charm of a transitional period and is a great place to listen. It's full of. "The Moon of the Castle" begins with the MC of Klaus saying, "This is a song that many people have requested," which is a familiar part of the SCORPIONS performance in Japan. However, this time, the major feature is that it is not played alone, but as an introductory part to "Holiday". Both of them bring Klaus's skillful singing skills to the forefront, and are a major highlight of the live performance. In addition, "No One Like You" and "Can't Live Without You", which explode in the second half of the live performance, get the audience excited, and the hearts of those listening to it are also excited. Although these are new songs, they already have a presence as standard songs. “Dynamite” from the new album concludes the main set. Like the current SCORPIONS live, this will also close the main part of the set with great force. This work includes the entire 73 minutes of the live performance on Disc 1, just like the previously released version. The encore part shares its role with Disc 2, and is structured so as not to disrupt the flow of the live performance. The heaviness and unique groove of “The Zoo”, which is greeted by the cheers of the audience, will thrill the listener. The following "Another Piece Of Meat" suddenly changes gears. The powerful performance completely burns out with the last song "Can't Get Enough"! Featuring Matthias's guitar solo, the performance is full of frenzied action and is worth listening to!Furthermore, with the band's high tension in the performance, this work will equally satisfy all SCORPIONS fans. After Matthias joined the band, they played a performance that was typical of the '80s, but the dark and hard sounds of the '70s were also irresistible! Please thoroughly enjoy the '82 live show, which can be said to be the last of the transitional period, on the eve of completely breaking out with "LOVE AT FIRST STING" with this work!
