After SCORPIONS completed their tour in Japan in June 1979, they toured the United States for the first time, marking their breakthrough into the United States as a hard rock band from Germany. After the American tour ended, the stage was moved to Europe again and the tour was to continue, but then a certain request came in. The 1979 Reading Festival was scheduled for three consecutive days at the end of August, as usual, with THE POLIS on the first day, the 24th, THIN LIZZY on the 25th, and PETER GABRIEL on the final day, the 26th. Each was scheduled to be the headliner. However, THIN LIZZY, who was scheduled to perform on the 25th, was forced to rebuild the band due to Gary Moore's withdrawal during the tour, leading to the cancellation of the performance. As a substitute, SCORPIONS, whose popularity was increasing in Europe, was chosen to replace them, and they unexpectedly appeared on the big stage. This work "READING ROCK '79" has been known as the "sound source representing SCORPIONS' 1979" since it was released on the Langley label nearly 10 years ago, and even after it went out of print, it remains a classic among fans. . The value of this work, which packages a remarkable live performance in the band's history with an excellent line source, is as good as the definitive line source version of the same year, "TOKYO 1979: Pre-FM Master", and is a must-see for fans. This is a book you should listen to! This sound source is based on material that was broadcast on a music program after the festival, so unfortunately it is not a complete recording, but rather a digest of about 42 minutes. However, with Klaus Meine's vocals in the center, Rudolf Schenker's guitar in the left channel, and Matthias Japs' lead guitar in the right channel, the clear and well-balanced sound is a listening experience that can only be achieved with broadcast sound sources. I'll enjoy the answer. The original first song, "Pictured Life", has been cut, but the Uri-era medley of "Backstage Queen" and "We'll Burn The Sky" that follows, and four new songs from "LOVEDRIVE", which has become a new repertoire, are included. It is well featured, and the live highlights are covered. Matthias's guitar playing and the band's sense of unity have improved compared to the performance in Japan, and the listeners can listen to the performance with peace of mind. Also, a big advantage of this work is that “He’s A Woman, She’s A Man”, which was not included in “TOKYO 1979: Pre-FM Master”, is included. You can fully enjoy the charm of SCORPIONS, who rock hard and uniquely (Rudolph screaming in high tension at the beginning of the song is also impressive)! Also, in the encore song "Robot Man," which is also a highlight of this work, Klaus's vocals are off in the first half due to recording, but the twin guitars of Rudolf and Matthias are vivid. I can hear it. Just like the same song at the official live "TOKYO TAPES", the awesomeness of the SCORPIONS live that sparks until the end is nothing short of overwhelming! After this, SCORPIONS participated in many large-scale festivals such as ``Monsters of Rock'' in 1980 and 1986. The 1979 Reading Festival, which marked the beginning of the band, is significant as the first major stage they experienced. There is also great value in being able to check out the band's transformation from 1979 to 1980 using the finest line source. This work, along with "ANIMALIZED IN MILWAUKEE", vividly captures the transitional period of SCORPIONS, and is a must-listen for any SCORPIONS fan!
