A video compilation featuring HR/HM ballads is set to be released. This work is a ballad video work "ROCK BALLADS" produced by Polygram. It is a collection of ballad clips of bands/artists such as SCORPIONS, BON JOVI, CINDERELLA, EXTREME, KINGDOM COME, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc. It was released on video and laser disc at the time, but of course it has not been released on DVD. This work has been meticulously reproduced from a Japanese laser disc that was treasured by a domestic core collector at the time. The smell of the time is revived with the quality of the time itself. Only DIO's "All The Fools Sailed Away" is from 1987, but the others are from 1989 to 1991 (BON JOVI's "I'll Be There For You" is a song from 1988, but the single cut was in 1989). The magma of grunge was already approaching from the underground, but there is no sign of it in this work, and beautiful melodies bathed in the shining "afterglow of the 80s" flow out one after another. Moreover, it is a little different from the bubbly glittering feeling of the late 80s, and has a sense of street return and simplicity since GUNS N' ROSES. It is the mood of an era when people were tired of the hustle and bustle of the frivolous 80s and were looking for a relaxing melody. The scent of "1989-1991" rises. Of course, the clip is also made in the style of that time. The "acting artist direction" that was popular during the heyday of MTV is subdued (although it is not nonexistent), and the focus is on serious performance scenes. On top of that, the actors depict the world of the lyrics, and the atmosphere is livened up by natural image processing that does not have a sense of excitement of "I can do this!" even with the childish CG. It smells of an era when "music clips" were already established and a directing method that was arrived at after trial and error was established. And that sense of the era extends beyond the individual songs to the entire concept of the work. In the first place, the existence of a "ballad video compilation" itself is a product of the times. It was an era when home video media, which had appeared since the early 1980s, were becoming established, but cable television and the Internet were not yet in existence. Restaurants and bowling alleys had laser disc jukeboxes that played PVs for about 100 yen per song, and bookstores sold video magazines. It was impossible in the past when videos were not widespread, and even in the present day when distribution and CATV have developed. This work is a piece that will make you choke up with the "scenery" and "fragrance" of the ballad boom that was ringing in that era. It's good to enjoy the band/song you're looking for, but we recommend that you use it as a background music video throughout the entire album. The youthful appearance and singing voices are layered one song after another to create an atmosphere of "the gap between the 1980s and the 1990s". An official video compilation that would be unthinkable in modern times and would never be reissued. It's the highest quality version ever. A nostalgic yet fragrant "ballad boom" from 26 years ago. Please enjoy to the fullest. Taken from the Japanese Laser Disc (VALP-3292) released in 1991 (44:51) 1. Scorpions - Winds Of Change 2. Bon Jovi - I'll Be There For You 3. L.A.
