This work contains a special program on SANTANA that was broadcast on a certain commercial broadcasting station. It was broadcast for two weeks on August 1st and 8th after the band's arrival in Japan. I'm sure many people have seen this famous footage, but this work is a DVD made from the best master. After all, the source of this work is a TV broadcast air check. It's not. It's actually a betacam that was saved for recording by overseas personnel. It also contains Japanese subtitles, so it seems to be a broadcast master, but its quality is different. Although fresh air check masters have been discovered recently, shaking and disturbance are still unavoidable, and some of them have good image quality but severe white line noise, fading, and discoloration. However, this work is stable and the outline of the subtitles is beautiful. The colors also convey the beauty of the actual scene to the present day. The legendary stage that I would like to call "Lotus seen with my eyes" is depicted in such a master of personnel, although it is a digest. Here, let's align the 2CD and the format and organize the contents. Heavenly Guardian: Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen/Oye Como Va/Incident At Nashabur Welcome: Going Home/Mantra/Samba De Sausalito Others: A-1 Funk/(Stone Flower Intro) Waiting/Castillos De Arena, Part 1 (Sand Castle)/Free Angela/Japan... and so on. And the sense of the era that seeps out of the screen is also a point of this video. Not only the costumes and lighting, but the camera work is very unique. It is clear that they are not yet used to filming rock concerts, as they shoot from strange positions such as 90 degrees directly above, and there are many close-ups of the faces, but the audience does not appear at all. From today's perspective, there is a sense of a different culture, as if it was filmed by an alien who does not know rock. What's even more interesting is the Japan subtitles that appear at key points. Some of the subtitles are not uncommon even today, such as the names of the members, song titles (which are quite wrong), and brief biographies of the band, but some of them also publish the schedules for live shows and members' tours, and the lyrics are translated into Japanese for vocal numbers. Furthermore, they suddenly pop in an advertisement with a subtitle without any context. In the middle of the interplay that is being cultivated, when suddenly "Fully functional play function (full-fledged 4CH system)", "Jeans that add variety to the summer of young people", "Cinnamon scent, gum for adults" come out, it is hard to keep up with your thoughts. The best part is the trivia and comments from the members. It is best to read this for yourself, so let me write out some of them. ・Amando Veraza, who performed at the Latin Quarter and Hanabasha in Akasaka 10 years ago, was surprised at Tokyo 10 years later! ・Vocalist Leon Thomas always meditated by doing handstands in the dressing room before playing. ・"Santana" is thought to be taken from the name of Carlos Santana, but it was named by original member Mike Carabello, and the reason for the name is that this is the most common and popular name in Mexico.・Michael Shreve bought up LPs of Zen, shakuhachi, koto, gagaku, and all of Tsutomu and Yamashita's LPs. ・"What do you think was the first thing I bought in Japan? It was a Lionmaru doll, a souvenir for my kids." - Leon Thomas And the final blow is the Japanese hymn "Japan" that appears at the end. The lyrics are also displayed in subtitles here, which are also amazing. I'll write this down too. "A country surrounded by a jewel-studded sea that continues to the afterlife. There, people live in peace and children laugh happily. The country where the sun rises. A happy people blessed by God. Dads and moms watch over everyone with love. Everyone is amazed by its beauty, like jewels falling from the sky. Snow-capped mountains stand tall. Let's go to Japan at least once." Dads and moms... The transcription alone is quite destructive, but in this work it is displayed along with a close-up of Leon's face as he sings passionately with a yodeling sound. The noiseless and beautiful screen makes the punch even more powerful and vivid. This is the legendary scene, this is Japan in 1973. The 2CD vividly brings to life the atmosphere that was floating around the Nippon Budokan at that time, but this work brings to life the Western music culture of Japan itself. In another sense, it is a historical that lets you experience 49 years ago in real life. Subtitles for members' comments: "Leon joined us just three weeks before we came to Japan. It was my dream to perform with him." - Carlos Santana - "There are two groups called Santana. This is the new Santana, completely different from the old Latin Rock Santana." - Amand Veraza - "When I felt empty from drugs and sex, I met my guru Sri Chinmoy. Since then, my outlook on life has changed." - Carlos Santana - "The songs we selected this time were arranged by all of us for all our Japan shows. We included some old numbers, but the performance is a new Santana sound. The audience seemed a little taken aback, but the reaction was great." - Carlos Santana - "I heard that admission fees for concerts in Japan are high, so we thought about making it a free concert." - Mike Shreve Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 6th & 7th July 1973 PRO-SHOT★Best Video Master(72:43) 1.
