From the first performance in Japan, which took place from June to July 1973, the Budokan performance on July 6th and 7th was recorded professionally from the television broadcast at that time. It is a very famous performance in Japan, released as the official album "Lotus" in June 1974, but the Tokyo performance was also recorded as a video in a commercial broadcasting project, and was broadcast as a special program for two weeks on August 1st and 8th the month after the performance ended. (Of course, the content and mix are different takes from "Lotus" which recorded the Osaka performance.) This board records both of those broadcasts, including the overlapping parts. The video, which was recorded in close consultation with the band and edited with meticulous editing, perfectly captures the stage of that day with multiple cameras and multiple angles including a shot from directly above the stage. The concert, which was centered on songs rearranged for the Japan performance, established a new Santana sound "soul supremacy" and stunned the audience. There is no other video that captures the drum solo "Kyoto" by the genius drummer Mike Shreve from such a multi-angle perspective, and it will be a must-see for all drummers regardless of genre. Carlos' ad-libs, played on top of that solid rhythm, are divided into two patterns: one where he creates a solo as can be heard in his representative songs, and the other where he positions the guitar sound as a sound effect, blends it with the atmosphere of the place to create a bewitching atmosphere, and in some songs, he shows a strong cut into the endlessly repeated riffs. The latter is a unique style of playing that can only be seen at this Japan tour. This is a valuable documentary video that all Western music fans should see. We have an indispensable item in stock when talking about artists who visited Japan in the 1970s. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 6th & 7th July 1973 PRO-SHOT Programme 1 1. Going Home / A-1 Funk 2.
