The masterpiece "FRANKFURT 1973 MASTER REEL" supervised by "GRAF ZEPPELIN" is one of the best audiences in the Rolling Stones' Europe 73, where high-level performances were mass-produced, and it was the masterpiece that finally realized the version upgrade that enthusiasts around the world craved. After all, it was a sound source that had not been updated for more than 10 years, so the board sold out shortly after its release in 2023. Once again, I was overwhelmed by the enduring popularity of Frankfurt 73. With the release of such a significant sound source, additional releases were considered even without waiting for the voices of enthusiasts to re-release it...or rather, if it is the definitive version recorded from a high-quality audience and master of Europe 73, it should be steadily supplied to the market, and it is a standard without exaggeration. On the contrary, if nearly two years have passed since the last release, there is no doubt that this is a Europe 73 sound source that should be re-released unconditionally. The response to the previous "FRANKFURT 1973 MASTER REEL" was so great that it literally flew off the shelves. As expected, the first numbered sticker version sold out in an instant, and the additional version without the sticker also disappeared in an instant. Is the recording of the two Frankfurt shows outstanding sound quality among the European 73 audience? If you ask me, it's not that good. For example, it's not the same as the super-chika sound image heard 10 days later in Essen, which was heard on the masterpiece "THE STARS IN THE SKY THEY NEVER LIE," which is still a best-seller, nor is it a stereo recording like the also very popular "BIRMINGHAM ODEON 1973." However, the charm of the calm sound quality of the mono and the ease of listening created by the moderate distance, and the balance of the power that Taylor's guitar and Mick's singing voice stand out in particular, has not faded even now. In the previous "FRANKFURT 1973 MASTER REEL", this recording felt like it had been thoroughly explored along with the master excavation, but this time "GRAF ZEPPELIN" has been re-examined, not just a simple reissue. Overall, there is no big difference from the previous release, but this time the "boco" sound that was scattered throughout both stages, where the taper microphone hits something, has been made less noticeable. For example, at the first show, around 4:00 in "You Can't Always Get What You Want", or around 2:45 in "Midnight Rambler". At the beginning of "Brown Sugar" and again at "Midnight Rambler", the "boco" that had entered several times, starting with Mick's scream, was successfully suppressed. It was already an easy-to-listen-to 73 audience, but this time it has evolved into a state where you can listen more calmly and carefully. And as I said at the time of the last release, Taylor's amazing performance, playing to his heart's content while showing different expressions in each of the two shows, goes without saying. At the same time, it is also attractive to see Taylor's outstanding backing in the quiet parts of "Angie" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want". This is also because the Taylor sound image in this recording is exquisitely balanced. The stance of "coming out where it comes out, and retreating where it retreats" is nothing short of magnificent. Keith, who was too excited in the first show, started "All Down The Line" flying, as if to compete with Taylor's brilliant performance, but the scene where Charlie measures the distance and starts hitting is too thrilling, and Mick's scream in the second half of "Tumbling Dice" in the second show is also a masterpiece. This rare mono audience, who captured two performances that make you want to call "Europe 73!", has once again achieved an upgrade by removing the noise that hits the microphone with the adjustment unique to "GRAF ZEPPELIN". This is one of the best recordings and performances of Europe 73 that you will be enchanted by no matter how many times you listen to it! There is not much difference from the previous version, but both discs have been slightly adjusted in the low and high ranges. In particular, Disc 1 has had the occasional noise that is noticeable removed. Festhalle, Frankfurt, West Germany 30th September 1973 (1st & 2nd Show) PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (70:48) 1st Show 01.
