It may seem surprising, but while the Rolling Stones' 1995 Japan tour produced so many items in real time, they are now all difficult to obtain. In addition, at the time, there was a sense of "speed over quality" and it seemed as if they were competing to release as quickly as possible after the performance, and naturally the sound quality was sacrificed. Moreover, only items that were released from the 1995 Tokyo Dome recording, which was plagued by echo and distance, were released. There are many items that now have a sense of the era in terms of quality, so there is no need to rush to find them. In addition to this situation, when the performance on March 12 was broadcast on television, the definitive version automatically appeared, and the audience recording items of this tour naturally became disregarded. Because of this, while so many items were produced in real time, the Tokyo Dome performance that was not released was left unattended. After nearly 30 years, the masterpiece that was released from then was "TOKYO DOME 1995 5TH NIGHT: DAT MASTER". Taper provided the audience recording that was the basis for this shocking release, but I was happy to hear that they also recorded other performances at the Tokyo Dome in 1995. That was also at the beginning of the tour. Originally, the "VOODOO LOUNGE" tour had a different repertoire for each stage, which pleased enthusiasts, but when they came to Japan in 1995, instead of performing a live show immediately after arriving, they performed an unplugged style session in a studio in Tokyo, which was popular at the time, and this later developed into "STRIPPED". Not only that, when the Tokyo Dome performance began, a new attempt was introduced in which an acoustic corner was included in the set list. Although the acoustic corner itself had been introduced during the TV broadcast from Miami the previous year, unlike that which was based on the premise of a TV broadcast, the first day of the Tokyo Dome was the first time that the acoustic corner was expanded to two songs on the regular tour stage. There must have been many enthusiasts who had already prepared thoroughly from the Miami VHS that had been in circulation up until this point, and therefore many enthusiasts must have cried the moment "Sweet Virginia" was performed on the first day of the Tokyo Dome as a reproduction of Miami. When I listened to "Angie" played before this song again, it was a very good performance, but although it was officially released in 1997 as a bonus track for Japan only on the new album "BRIDGES TO BABYLON", why did they put a live take of their 1995 visit to Japan on the new album? It's a nostalgic feeling that made me wonder. This is the first appearance audience recording on the first day of the 1995 Tokyo Dome performance, but as expected, the taper of "TOKYO DOME 1995 5TH NIGHT: DAT MASTER" is of excellent quality this time as well. There is no doubt that it was recorded from the Arena A block, and just hearing the sound of the opening SE "Gong Gong" is enough to convince you of the closeness of the sound image. Of particular note is the vivid closeness of Charlie's drums. Especially the vividness of the hi-hat in "Miss You" and "Sympathy For The Devil". You will be impressed by how well they managed to capture the sound at the Tokyo Dome in 1995. His drumming in up-tempo songs like "Live With Me" and "Satisfaction" is also powerful. This has become a valuable and well-balanced recording now. On the other hand, Mick's singing voice seems to be pushed further back, but this is resolved as the live performance progresses. And as with the first day of the Japan tour, the performance is careful, with Mick at the center. The high sound quality makes it easy to hear. His MC between songs is much more polite than the one on March 12th, which was broadcast on TV, and it is a nice touch. Of course, the immortal phrase "You're tired, Keith Richards!", which became a famous phrase during this visit to Japan, also appears immediately. For enthusiasts who are used to watching the video on March 12th, the intro of "Satisfaction" where Keith's volume rises in a hurry from the ear-splitting noise, and "I Go Wild" where Keith also gets used to it before Chuck Leavell's count starts, may seem quite fresh. And this time's sound source has a low level of not only the sound image but also the overall surrounding noise, which is easy to listen to compared to the real-time items mentioned at the beginning, but when the Keith corner starts, it's nice to see the surroundings suddenly become lively. He himself was probably excited by the loud cheers that would be unthinkable in America, and you can tell from the way he sings "Before They Make Me Run". Furthermore, before the encore, voices such as "It's totally fine!" and "The best" are flying around, which is also nice.
