The Rolling Stones' second visit to Japan in 1995 was a real-time event that was held at the height of CD media at a time when DAT recorders were just starting to become popular, and this resulted in the production of many items in real time. In addition, the Tokyo Dome performance on March 12 was broadcast on television shortly after the performance in Japan. The live footage has now been officially released and has become a staple of the 1995 Japan performance, but as mentioned earlier, there are also many real-time releases of the audience recordings, and the two days in Fukuoka, where the Stones first performed in Japan outside of the Tokyo Dome, were covered on both days in the masterpiece "VOODOO LOUNGE IN FUKUOKA," so at first glance, it seemed like all the dates were covered. However, did you know that there was a Tokyo Dome performance that was overlooked among the real-time releases of the 1995 Japan performance that showed such excitement, and that the complete version of the sound source has never been released as an item until now? That was on March 14th. On this day, the VGP label included several songs on the bonus disc of "FUCKIN' TIRED", which included the previous performance on the 12th, and furthermore, in real-time items such as "VOODOO LOUNGE TOUR MEMORIAL MARCH 1995", it was only used as a bonus member, and nearly 30 years have passed without any items that could give a full picture of the performance of that day. Thus, the serious situation for Japanese enthusiasts has continued endlessly, but the time has finally come to put an end to the unfortunate situation on March 14th. The tapers of "TOKYO 1998 3RD NIGHT: DAT MASTER" and "TOKYO 1998 4TH NIGHT: DAT MASTER", which made enthusiasts say "TOKYO 1998 3RD NIGHT: DAT MASTER" that had never been circulated among traders, provided the rare audience masters that surprised enthusiasts at the 1998 Japan tour. It is still fresh in my memory that the excellent sound quality was highly praised by enthusiasts, but the sound quality he captured on March 14, 1995 was also excellent. The real-time items mentioned above were also at a sufficiently good level in terms of sound quality, but they picked up a lot of cheers from the surroundings and clapping that is unique to Japanese performances. In that respect, the audience who appeared for the first time this time was surprisingly easy to hear without such annoyances. Furthermore, while there is a moderate sense of distance, the hall echo that blurs the sound image, which is common to the Tokyo Dome audience at that time, is modest, and it is a wonderful quality that can be said to be of the highest quality without exaggeration as a performance in Japan in 1995. If this had been released in real time at the time, it would have been highly praised. However, it is not only the recording quality that is wonderful. What is most surprising is the wonderful performance on this day. The show before this day was the 12th, when the filming was done, and it was the starting point of the second half of the Japan tour that took place with an off-day in between. Thanks to that, the whole band was very excited from the opening, but Mick's switch was clearly turned on in "You Got Me Rocking" and he sang with super high tension. In addition, it was a live performance of the same song, so the momentum was also overwhelming. Mick, who was completely in full throttle here, was also in high spirits in the following "Shattered". It was as if he had descended from 1978. Such Mick finally went out of control in the next song "Rocks Off". The fact that this song was revived in the stage repertoire for the first time in a long time on this tour was a hot topic at the time, but the first half of the song was arranged with Mick singing a low melody, which seemed to lack power even at the time. However, on this day, he was unable to suppress his own excitement that was ignited and went for the high melody of the past, and as a result, the chorus and the singing melody almost clashed. In the end, Mick signals them to "lower the melody" and returns to the original state, but Mick, who often sings the first half of the song with a relaxed melody on the "VOODOO LOUNGE" tour for the reasons mentioned above, is in high spirits. Furthermore, Mick's singing runs through "Satisfaction," which is now nostalgic for being played in the first half of the live, and "Sympathy for the Devil" in the second half of the live. On a day when only a few songs had been recorded, such a passionate performance was unfolded. Rather, it would have been amazing if this day had been filmed and broadcast on TV instead of the 12th... It's a wishful thinking. After all, the effect of the day off after the big job of the Tokyo session held immediately after arriving in Japan, or the video recording on the 12th, was tremendous. In any case, pulled by Mick who was in top form, Keith and Ronnie also showed off their spirited playing. "Beast Of Burden," which was the first performance in Japan in real time and caused a stir, was also very polite. Also, from this song onwards, combined with the good balance of the sound output from the venue, the original sound source seems to be easier to hear. Not only is this a valuable and good audience that has been sleeping for nearly 30 years being released, but I was surprised at the fulfilling performance that deserves to be called a hidden masterpiece!
