The opening night of the Rolling Stones' first performance in Japan will be remembered as a day that will last forever for Japanese fans. Since it was February 14th, it may have been the best Valentine's chocolate that only the Stones fans who were present on the day were able to taste at Tokyo Dome. Since the first performance in Japan was so exciting that it became a social phenomenon, we are blessed with material for the latter half of the tour, such as sound sources and videos that were later leaked to TV and radio broadcasts, but the first half was an audience recording. I rely on it. The famous set "DOME ON WHEELS" made the wish of such enthusiasts come true. Both the first release over 10 years ago and the re-release over 5 years ago were such masterpieces that they sold out in no time. Among these sets, the one that received the most attention and received high praise was the audience recording that captured the first day's performance. Although it was a sound source that had been released before, maniacs were overjoyed at the significant quality improvement as it was recorded from the master cassette for the first time. After all, it is a record of a memorial day for Stones fans in Japan. This was the most popular of the "DOME ON WHEELS" sets. Therefore, this time, for the first time, the same sound source will be released separately. Already when it was reissued in 2015, the master cassette was carefully brushed up and re-released, so it was praised for being easier to listen to than the 2010 version. However, since 6 years have passed since its release (how fast...), this time we have once again brushed up on the master cassette by making full use of the latest technology in 2021. Graf Zeppelin was in charge of this work. In this case, the concept is to create a sound that is somewhere between the 2010 and 2015 versions. As I mentioned earlier, the latter remaster was also very well received, but this time it has a more natural finish that is less tiring to listen to. The original recording condition itself was very clear, so I think this work was able to bring out the essence of the sound source to an even clearer condition. More importantly, for the first time, we compensated for the missing parts of the main sound source using another audience recording from the same day. While the first day sound source that could be heard on “DOME ON WHEELS” was highly praised, there was a desire to make up for the cut parts. That was not possible in the 2015 version, but this time, Graf Zeppelin has made a detailed compensation. First of all, there is a gap between songs from "Happy" to "Paint It Black", but it is supplemented with the bonus board "THE FIRST NIGHT" that came with the nostalgic box set "OUT OF CONTROL LICKS JAPAN TOUR 2003". In addition, after the 2015 version, the first day title “TOKYO DOME 1990 1ST NIGHT: UNCIRCULATED MASTER”, which attracted attention as a new original sound source, was also released. So, from "Mixed Emotions" to "Honky Tonk Women", the main title was patched between the encores. With this, the final step that was desired for the re-release of the first day sound source of “DOME ON WHEELS” has finally been added. When I listened to it again, the carefulness of the performance on this day really stood out and made me smile. You can clearly see that Mick and others were nervous for a while after the show started, but he started to loosen up around "Miss You," and even in the new song corner at the time, including "Mixed Emotions" (unlike in America, where he played the previous year). ) The extremely enthusiastic response must have been a good sign. Still, in "Honky Tonk Women", Mick's singing start is unstable, and the scene that I can't believe was visited two years ago in solo is heartwarming. And now that it is a record of Charlie's first live performance in Japan, it has taken on a different significance. The unique listening comfort brought about by the sound image with just the right distance, Above all, the famous recording, which boasted exceptional quality as an audience recording at Tokyo Dome in 1990, has finally been brushed up and released as a standalone for the first time. First visit to Japan, first day. Mainly uses the highest quality "DOME ON WHEELS" source. "DOME ON WHEELS" This is an intermediate mastering between the 6CD and 8CD discs (with a wide range and emphasis on band balance, with a modest increase in sound pressure). The missing parts were filled in appropriately with the original sound source "TOKYO DOME 1990 1ST NIGHT: UNCIRCULATED MASTER" released in August 2019 and the 2CD "THE FIRST NIGHT" from the 2003 LICKS JAPAN TOUR 2003 box. Used after phase correction and EQ adjustment. By making full use of two types of sub-sources, almost non-stop recording is achieved!
