Mick and Keith must have clearly recognized that with the participation of Steve Jordan, the numbers of the 1960s, that is, the songs of the Brian era, were revived. On the first day of LA's SoFi Stadium, the opening was finally realized with "Let's Spend The Night Together". As expected, it's an exciting start, and the live performance is incredible. From there, the pattern of “19th Nervous Breakdown”, the opening of the Brian era, which has never been seen before, is really fresh. Above all, this is the first time in the Stones' live history that "Let's Spend ~" will serve as the opening of a live performance. This opening alone has enough impact to declare that it is worth listening to, but “Rocks Off”, which appeared for the first time on this tour, fell from the indispensable Charlie memorial comment on this tour. Once again, Steve's drumming has brought back the original aggressive performance momentum, and it can be said that this is also a repertoire that has been revived. The tapers probably couldn't contain their joy at the performance of this song, and couldn't help but sing it under their breath (lol). Even so, the performance is so overwhelmingly aggressive that it hardly bothers me when I listen to it. That momentum continues, and "Get Off of My Cloud" is also the first appearance on this tour. This is also an excellent compatibility with Steve's drumming, and here too his drumming revives the Brian era repertoire. Brian's festival in the set list of the first day in LA ended with "Ruby Tuesday", which appeared for the first time on the tour. Since songs from Brian's era have never been performed in such a unified manner in the first half of the live show, this is proof that Mick and Keith have begun to understand Steve's potential. Also, rather than the taper singing of "Rocks Off" that was heard earlier, this song starts with "Tumbling Dice", then "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Honky Tonk Women", and it is cyclical. The problem is that there are parts where the taper points away and the sound becomes distant. However, it is ironic because when you return from there, you will once again realize the powerful sound image of this recording. This is because the sound source released this time has a wonderful sound quality that will definitely convince you that it is the top quality of this tour. Regarding the audience recording of this day, two types of sound sources have appeared, the first one that appeared was by a taper called TJ, and this sound source appeared next. This is a recording made from PIT, so the sound image including Mick's singing voice is really wonderful. Therefore, the taper sometimes moved, resulting in unstable points like the one above, but even if you put these problems aside, the recording state is overwhelmingly on and powerful, and even non-maniacs can enjoy it. After all, the sound quality is high, so I'm glad that you can clearly see how the new Stones' performance with Steve is getting better and better. “Connection” sung by Keith, whose first performance in Nashville was a great success, was a great performance on this day as well. On this day, the same song comes with “Ruby Tuesday” and the opening “Let’s Spend The Night Together”, and it makes you want to call it a “BETWEEN THE BUTTONS” night. If there is only one disappointing performance on this day, it is “Midnight Rambler”. Up until now, Steve had been able to stimulate the performance in his own way even if he could not excite the performance as exquisitely as Charlie, but on this day the performance somehow ended without being able to grasp the peak. However, since he showed so much skill in his numbers during Brian's era, it is impossible for the new Steve to do everything perfectly. Overall, a very high-tension performance is unfolded with Steve's drums being pulled, and it is wonderful that Mick's excitement is captured in a wonderful sound image as if responding to it. What's with the occasional vibrations in the sound? Compensating for this is the powerful sound image and incandescent performance. Among the audience albums that capture the live performances of the new Stones, this is one of the best! SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA, USA 14th October 2021 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (69:37) 1.
