The 2003 Japan tour was a fierce battle for releases. The release speed was heating up, but the "LICKS JAPAN TOUR 2003 COMPLETE BOX" was released as a collection of carefully selected sound sources while keeping an eye on the fever. Speaking of 2003, it was the height of the equalization wars, and this set was a collection of the best sound sources brought by the tapers, without adding any equalization. That's why it was sold out so quickly, but it was really loved by enthusiasts, and it became an item that rarely appeared on the used market. Naturally, there were many requests for a re-release in 2003, and our shop had been waiting for the right timing several times. However, when we realized it, more than 10 years had passed, and we had finally lost track of the timing of the release. However, this year marks exactly 15 years since the 2003 Japan tour. There is no way to miss this timing, and the re-release will finally be realized. After so many years have passed, many people do not know about the release at that time. So let's talk about the audience recordings recorded on each disc. Tokyo Dome Day 2 On this day, two titles, "TOKYO DOME 2003 2ND NIGHT" and "LICKS TOKYO DOME 2003 2ND NIGHT", were released separately in 2014, but both of them had a sound image with a slight sense of distance (although they were still quite on), whereas the audience recordings in this BOX have sound quality that goes beyond them. The on sound image and the direct feeling are really wonderful from the beginning. When this is moved to the B stage, it is upgraded to a sound image so close that it seems to be an illusion. The sound quality impact of the release in 2003 has not faded at all. Because the sound image is so on, you can clearly hear the incident where the sound is delayed due to a staff mistake in the intro of the opening "Brown Sugar". It's not that they were shaken by this, but Mick's singing in "It's Only Rock'n Roll", Keith's mistake in "Monkey Man" as if he foresaw the second day in Osaka, and in "Angie", both of them made mistakes, and it was clear that they were getting better and better from "Midnight Rambler" as if they were going to fall into a confused day in the 2003 Japan tour. The B stage's "When The Whip Comes Down" and "Mannish Boy", which can be heard with the amazing sound quality mentioned earlier, are also very wonderful. First day at Osaka Dome The biggest attraction of this box is the two Osaka performances at the end. Both are amazingly powerful audience recordings that even surpass the two days of this box Tokyo Dome. From the first day, the exceptional high sound quality knocks out the listener. The sound image and direct feeling are so on that it seems like they challenged the limits of audience recording in 2003. The main part of the live performance boasts an incredible sound image, so when it moves to the B stage, it is a powerful and direct feeling as if you are watching (listening) from the stage. As you can see from the fact that "Thru And Thru", which was frequently played in 2002, was played only on this day of the Japan tour, Keith, who was said to have been in poor health during his stay in Tokyo, was in top form that day. In fact, the appearance of playing backing full of momentum from the opening is captured with the best sound quality. Meanwhile, Mick made many mistakes in the lyrics of "Rocks Off", and the song clashed with Bernard Fowler who was trying to sing the correct lyrics many times. Also, Keith pulled the band hard in "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", and it seemed like the performance would surpass the first day of the Tokyo Dome, but Ronnie's play ended with a tailspin. However, after the B stage, the other members were also on board, and in "Let It Bleed" they played at a high speed that was even blue in 1981, and in "Gimme Shelter" after returning from the B stage, Mick's realistic shout was clear. The second day at the Osaka Dome, the final day of the 2003 Japan tour. Speaking of this day, Keith's rage at the intro of "Monkey Man" is a day that will remain in the history of Japanese performances. Here too, the audience recording used in this box boasts a special power. The sound image is on and the outstanding direct feeling is still alive and well. The amazing recording quality has not faded at all even 15 years after its release, so much so that a specialist magazine at the time commented, "I wonder if they could reissue it only for two days in Osaka." In addition, the sound image of the main part and the B stage was maintained with a consistent sound pressure balance, which was a masterpiece, and the recording was so impressive that the sound image moved slightly on the B stage. "OSAKA 2003 SECOND NIGHT", which was released as a single item in recent years, was also an audience recording boasting a high level of sound quality, but this box set has a higher quality than that. And although it is a day that tends to attract attention only for Keith's happenings and the confused performance of "Monkey Man", the high quality of the performance throughout is suitable for the final day of the tour. Mick's spirit is conveyed from the "Hah" voice at the end of "All Down The Line", and Mick shouts a tremendous shout at the end of "Sympathy For The Devil". In this way, every day is still an audience recording boasting a unique sound quality that can only be enjoyed with a set. After it became Sold Out at the time, the individual sales of each performance were not realized. Fortunately, the legendary set that was only heard among maniacs who were able to get it in 2003 has finally been re-released after 15 years. Of course, this time too, no unnecessary equalization is applied, and the charm of the original recording is revived as it was. For those who only knew of the existence of this item from specialist magazines and websites, don't miss this chance in 15 years to finally get this set in your hands and listen carefully to each sound source!
