Speaking of the 1976 European tour in Frankfurt, the second day is overwhelmingly more famous, as soundboard recordings have been leaked since the days of analog LPs. It is still fresh in my memory that last year "FRANKFURT 1976" was released, which was a combination of audience recording and conventional soundboard recording. For these reasons, the spotlight tends to be on the second day of 1976 in Frankfurt, but the release situation of only two songs recorded on the LP "WELCOME TO FRANKFURT" on the first day made the impression weaker. This is understandable. There is also a full-length audience recording on the first day of Frankfurt. Unfortunately, the sound quality is inferior to that recorded on "WELCOME TO FRANKFURT". It is full of vintage feeling, which is why no items have been produced until now. Although the sound image is distant, the balance is good, and each person's play and Mick's voice can be heard more than expected. However, the freshness is refreshing (laughs). You can imagine that this is an analog-like sound quality. This overlooked sound source was promoted to an upper version after careful equalization when considering its release. The randomly out-of-tune pitch, which was the biggest drawback, was thoroughly adjusted. This alone makes it much easier to listen to than the sound sources that had been circulating among traders. In addition, the sound quality itself was improved by equalization. There is still some hiss noise, but it is much easier to listen to compared to the original state. The clarity has also improved, even though the sound quality is old-fashioned. It is not for everyone, but it has evolved to a state where enthusiasts can enjoy it very much. And above all, the content of the performance is interesting. The 1976 European tour was based on the composition of the previous year's US tour, but introduced the repertoire from the new album "BLACK AND BLUE" and was generally more compact than the previous year. The results were later compiled as the official live album "LIVE YOU LIVE", but it was the first day of the tour after all. The sticky sound of the 1976 tour is not yet complete, and it is interesting because the hyper momentum of the previous year remains. The best example of this is the opening song "Honky Tonk Women". From this day on, it has been played in a shortened arrangement, but Mick's constant screaming is just like the previous year's tour. And yet, the lyrics of the place name are changed to "Frankfurt City" as a service. However, the next song "If You Can't Rock Me / Get Off Of My Cloud" is played at a slow tempo, and here you can feel the unique atmosphere that was a mix of 1975 and 1976. Also, "All Down The Line" was discharged after two days in Frankfurt. The songs on "BLACK AND BLUE" did not yet have the same cohesion as they showed in Paris a month later, and since these songs were premiered live on this day, their historical value is also very high. In fact, "Hey Negrita" is played more cautiously than the later version (it seems to be a premiere), and "Fool To Cry", which became a big hit and became a popular song every night, was also premiered, so it was interesting to see Mick introduce it as "a song from the new album" and start playing it. The best of these new repertoires is "Hot Stuff". In the latter half of the song, Mick shouts with a hyper shout that reminds me of 1975, and it is surprising that it is sung with a wilder atmosphere than the later live version. From this, we could see a scene that is typical of the first day, a combination of 1975 and 1976. As with the simultaneously released 1975 Louisville, this is undoubtedly an audience recording with a sound quality for enthusiasts. However, there are plenty of things to listen to that are unique to the first day of the tour. The mysterious scene where Keith plays a chord (maybe a roadie?) after everything is over with "Street Fighting Man" is also interesting. Anyway, I guarantee that if you are a fan of the 1976 European tour, you will definitely enjoy it. ★First day of the tour, unrecorded sound source. All pitches have been corrected.
