This is a very famous recording of the performance at Olympia in Paris, France on April 18, 1965, from the opening to the ending, which is representative of Brian Jones's time with the band. Several companies, including Coda Publishing, have released this performance at Olympia in multiple versions, taking advantage of the grey area of copyright expiration, but all of them use audio copied from "ALL THOSE YEARS AGO" (VGP-079) and "A ROLLING STONE GATER NO MOSS" (VGP-101). However, these releases have a slight skip/cut before the intro of "OFF THE HOOK" that was not present on the original CD, so they were probably produced easily from audio downloaded from the Internet. There are two types of this recording: Source A, which was recorded offline from an AM broadcast through a microphone from a radio speaker, and Source B, which is a proper online recording played from a reel-to-reel copy from the radio station's archive. Source A was used on the LP "ANDREW'S BLUES" (IMP-1126), which first featured this show, and was released in the mid-1970s. It was released in many different forms after that, and this air check sound source was a popular sound source until the very early days of CD bootlegs. VGP was the first to release the excellent online source B on CD, released as "ANDREW'S BLUES" (VGP-006) in 1994, and a full copy was soon released on shaved disc. I'm sure there were many enthusiasts who thought, "What? There's no rattling noise when the microphone hits the speaker during Mick's MC in "CAROL". After that, in the lineage of VGP/DAC, the titles from the VGP era have all been sold out/discontinued in the flow of upgrades from "ANDREW'S BLUES" → "STILL I'M GONNA MISS YOU" → "ALL THOSE YEARS AGO" → "A ROLLING STONE GATER NO MOSS" → "REELIN' AND ROCKIN'" → "THE PARIS MATCH", so the popularity of this sound source can be seen. Keith's guitar tuning was bad throughout, and Mick's vocals were in an era without monitors, so to be honest, the pitch was unstable to the point that "if the gut live was not corrected in the studio, it would be like this". However, it is already well known to all fans that the youth and recklessness that exploded in such a bad environment was the Stones' great charm and weapon at this time. This release is made with the LP "GET YOUR KICKS" (MONA RECORDS) released in 1982 in mind, and is a live compilation of the best sources selected from Paris 65, BBC 64, and 65. Paris has been rebroadcast several times on FM since the late 1990s, and about half of the songs performed have excellent sound quality, but this time it has been upgraded to the limit with a single sound source, and has reached a level that is almost comparable to the rebroadcast version. Of course, since the original is an analog recording, there is not zero hiss noise, but maniacs will surely be grinning at the vividness of Charlie's top cymbal high notes heard in the background of Keith's lead guitar in "CAROL" and "IT'S ALL OVER NOW". The 1964 BBC Joe Ross Show was first released on the original LP of "GET YOUR KICKS", but here we have added the opening "NOT FADE AWAY", and the MC between songs is included in a complete version with many new parts. "HI-HEEL SNEAKERS" now includes the intro and the first verse, which were missing from the existing recordings. The 1965 BBC only included two songs, "Oh Baby" and "The Spider and the Fly", on the original LP, but we took advantage of the free space to record all nine songs from the original transcription disc of the "TOP OF THE POPS" radio show, which is the source of the two songs. Of course, the talk between songs is unedited and the sound quality is excellent. This new release is recommended for everyone, from beginners who are looking for a good title from the Brian period to super-enthusiasts who are a hundred-time veterans of Paris 65!
