Speaking of the Rolling Stones' 1981 US tour, a large number of PA-out soundboard recordings were leaked in the 2000s, and in the 2010s, rough mixes of multi-track recordings for radio broadcasts were distributed in large quantities on the "CONCERT VAULT" site. As for the latter sound sources, a re-release project supervised by GRAF ZEPPELIN is currently underway, but if these are combined, it seems that the tour can be covered almost entirely with soundboards. However, even in such a luxurious situation, there are still live performances where soundboards have not been excavated, or even recorded. If the tour lasted for a long time from September to December, it would not be surprising if there were days when recordings were not made with either PA or multi. In the first place, multi-track recorders were used for radio broadcasts and the live album "STILL LIFE" from November. That's why there were plenty of PA out sound sources in October, but it is speculated that neither recording was realized in the valley between the PA sound board rush at this time and the multi-track rush in November, and that at the end of October, Orlando was the Tangerine Bowl. Two performances were held at the same venue, but neither is likely to have a sound board recording. If even one of them existed, it would be a different story, but the fact that neither of them has appeared makes it more true. In such a situation, it is the audience recording that lends a helping hand. Several items have been released for the performance on October 24th at the Tangerine Bowl, which was held on Bill Wyman's birthday, but although the sound source was circulated at the trader level for the next day, it became an unknown day because it did not appear on the Internet. However, it finally appeared on the Internet in the second half of 2013, and it was released in a hurry in 2014's "ORLANDO 1981 2ND NIGHT". As I said at the beginning, it is a tour that is blessed with sound boards. The quality of the audience recording, which was buried in the valley, is a bit for maniacs. It has a hard texture that seems to be recorded in an outdoor stadium, and the sound image is not at a level that can be described as "like a sound board". However, Keith's guitar sound is captured in a great balance and is very impressive. What is even more attractive is Mick's passionate singing, screaming at super high tension. In other words, the wonderful balance of "Keith and Mick have a tremendous presence". When "ORLANDO 1981 2ND NIGHT" was released, it was the hot performance content and the enthusiastic excitement of the audience that caused a big stir among maniacs. Mick's high tension, which I mentioned earlier, was really amazing, and he seemed like a completely different person from the way he sang after saving his throat since November. From mid-October, when the Stones' engine was at full throttle, Mick had become the strongest shouter around this time. For example, "All Down The Line," which had passed its prime as a repertoire as soon as he changed the way he sang, was so amazing that it made me think that this was the best version of the 1981 tour. Also, "Street Fighting Man," which had a very unreliable performance at the beginning of the tour, has evolved into a wild performance that makes you think of the completed 1981 version. In addition, Keith's guitar is loud, so the power is also tremendous. The song was originally treated as a daily replacement with "Satisfaction," so the people of Orlando were lucky. The way the audience got excited on this day was also really amazing, and you can feel how special the excitement was just by listening to the escalating cheers after "Let's Spend The Night Together" started. Another big attraction is that you can experience that vivid excitement in a unique, immersive stereo that spreads left and right. Before this excitement, Mick also praised them saying, "You guys are the best audience!", and the intense excitement that was repeated during "Start Me Up," the latest hit at the time, was also a hot scene to listen to. It really conveys the sense of excitement of the latest hit of an active band. Indeed, the enthusiastic excitement that made the Stones "feel like it" led to the reward of showing both "Street Fighting Man" and "Satisfaction," which had only been on the first day of the tour until then. Therefore, even if the sound quality is not of the highest level, the recording state makes full use of the advantages unique to the audience, which is something that you can never experience with a PA-out sound board, even if it is a multi-track. Such a rich content was well-received and "ORLANDO 1981 2ND NIGHT" sold out in a short period of time. That is why the demand for a re-release is increasing among enthusiasts. Therefore, this time, under the supervision of GRAF ZEPPELIN, the rough sound that was found in the previous release was carefully adjusted. It has been upgraded to a finish that is easy to listen to overall. The Tangerine Bowl, where the show took place, was actually called the Citrus Bowl from 1983 to 2016. Yes, that venue was known for its audience recordings, which boasted exceptionally high quality even during the 2015 "ZIP CODE" tour. Now it has been renamed to the uninteresting "Camping World Stadium" (bitter smile), but the Stones' first performance at this famous venue was on October 25, 1981. The famous sound source that impressed enthusiasts is finally back! Remastering notes Phase correction *However, there is almost no change Volume balance adjustment *The previous version had a low overall sound and some loud parts, so it was made uniform so that it did not feel strange overall. Slight EQ adjustment *However, no major processing was done. The disc change position has been adjusted (MC was recorded in duplicate so as not to be divided) and the scattered sound fluctuations in places have been corrected to a comfortable range. Cross-faded several inter-song cuts without going too far. *The areas where MC etc. are cut are not crossed.
